Default so tried to get the muffler fixed

so i received my car with the left muffler tip crooked..

here is the convo at the dealership:

me:"so I called earlier to make an appointment for an oil change tomorrow.
I happened to be in the area and I remembered that
I had forgot to mention on the phone that the left muffler tip needs to be fixed."

service guy: "what did you do to it?"

me: "nothing it came welded on from the factory crooked,
its been a common problem with a few other Challengers."

service guy: "well, I'll have to investigate that and see what's really going on"

me: "It's pretty clear that is came like that and its welded like that from the factory.
so when you guys conclude that in your investigation what is the protocol for you to make it right?"

service guy: "well we'll just have to see when I look at it tomorrow"

me: "uhhh okay"

Default RE: so tried to get the muffler fixed

so its the next day I take the car in to get serviced

we do the small talk I re-introduce myself because
he has no recollection of ever meeting me or having
any conversation with me whatsoever.

we go and look at the muffler and he concludes that
I was in fact right about the muffler and had been truthful.

He talks to his welder guy and I find out they don't have
the welder machine because yesterday the guy decided to
take it home to weld a roll cage in his car.

so he tells me to come back in a week to get it fixed.

I was pissed.

Tell him you're not asking him to fix it but telling him to fix it. Damn American car companies they just don't have a clue about customer service. It's not just the car companies either.

yeah when I had my subaru they used to do all kinds of stuff for me, they treated me like I was at mercedes benz or porsche or bmw.

this is my first and only and now LAST purchase of an american car or even experience with driving and owning one that i want.

everything about it has been an issue, everything from getting the car, to paying for it, to getting it serviced.

seriously its really not worth the hassle. at this point.

I'm just going to get some bread together make black the fastest and then sell the damn thing.

i may be saying some things I don't mean deep inside but I'm soooo frustrated at this point.

I had the same problem, there an adjustment bolt on mine took five minutes for the dealer to fix.

P.S. Find another dealership.

The tips dont need to be re welded. It is a ball and socket set up. You loosen the bolt, turn it the way you want and tighten..... You have a small tack on a steel donut, but you have a ton of moving room before you would have to change that weld.

Andre is 100% correct !

When I had my exhaust system done last week, the tips were the easiest thing to adjust by simply playing with the mounting hardware.

No welding needed.

either was it s a blatently wrong, the fact that it got off the production line like that, has me worried.

just with a quick glance at the rear end of the car makes it noticeable.

You need to remember that not everyone on the production line is a car enthusiast, even if they are building a special model.....to them it's just a job. Someone more than likely felt it would mean more work, if they pointed it out..if they even noticed it. Not that they couldn't do a better job and they should if they really care. (These are the same individuals that feel they should be paided 50.00 an hour to put one bolt on each car....and then can't understand why they are being replaced by a machine....thank you s).
Judging from your problem.......you need to find a better dealer, or at the very least...another service adviser that cares about customer service.
I have had nothing but good luck from my encounters with service dept's, and when I did have an issue...I don't just go away...I talk with the service manager to correct the issue. Like the last service manager told me.."it's the little things that cause the biggest problems".
Don't accept anything less than what you should get.....Good and fair customer service!!

It wont make it any better Trev, but I have not seen one that came straight yet. It only has to be a little off to show.
