transmission

Can someone please tell me if this car is going to be avalible in an automatic? If so, is it a true automatic or auto shift on the steering wheel? or an auto shift on the floor?

So far the rumor is that it will have a floor shift 5-speed W5A580 (Mercedes design) automatic with an autostick option (allows you to choose what gear it has within reason). Column shift automatics are disappearing.

column shifts are only on cars with bench front seats

it is tough to put it in drive if someone has their legs around the shifter

Precisely and bench seats are disappearing. Your right that it is hard to change gears if the shifter is between someone's legs. I hate it when I have to drive a manual truck when there is a middle passenger, or worse when I'm the middle passenger. That is very annoying![:@]

But what's fun to do if you're the middle passenger is to gently press your knee against the shifter and ease it out of gear into neutral when the driver isn't looking. :D

HAHAHAHAHA! I've never had the inspiration to do that, but if that floats your boat, more power to you!:D

i do that sometimes with my friends automatics

i am riding shotgun, and while they are not looking i put it in neutral, then when they hit the gas, the car revs but does not move

Well you must have some pretty forgiving friends then. In my car, no body even touches the shifter if they ever want to have a ride in it again.
