Which V6 would you prefer?

Which V6 would you prefer them to have? This poll is for those who want a V6 standard. If I intended to make this for anti-V6 members, I would have added a no V6 option. If you don't want a V6, I will request that you either don't vote or just decide to add your opinion about which V6 would do the least to damage its image. This is for the members who think it should have a V6.

The 4.0L would offer the best torque and best hp but would be the most expensive and the least fuel efficient. The 3.8L would offer the best fuel economy, the best cost, possibly the best low-end grunt; however, it would offer the worst hp and would be the worst at passing. The 3.5L offer a good compromise between the two. The biggest strike against it would be that it is the most peaky out of all the engines. Or do you think a new engine should be made for this car.

I would prefer the 4.0L. I think it fits the Challenger the best. What would you choose?

if i had to chose, i would want the 4.0, because it is the strongest, and there is no replacement for displacement...:)

Amen! Also something I just thought of, if they have a 4.0L it won't sound like the Mustang has it beat since the Mustang has the 4.0L for its V6 base engine.

I peeked at the Charger (as a guide) and only see the 3.5L available. While my preference would lean towards the 4.0L is this something Dodge is likely to offer? I keep going back to the platform Challenger will get built on and asking myself what is the easiest thing for them to do. If I were in their shoes I'd say we have a 3.5L on the line today...let's stick with that and not reinvent the wheel.

Thoughts?

The 3.5L is probably what they would use if they decide to offer a V6. I just wanted to bring up a new subject to talk about while were waiting. You never know. Maybe they will, but it doesn't sound like they will, at least not right now. The difference between the 4.0L 24 valve SOHC is marginal because they are from the same family. The 4.0L is just a larger version of the 3.5L, so it wouldn't be too difficult to switch.

I think the Charger should offer the 4.0L on the SXT so then it offers something the SE doesn't have in the power department. I also think the other LX cars should get it. The 4.0L is better suited in the LX platform because the 4.0L has flatter torque and hp characteristics which is preferred in heavier cars.

Obviously the 4.0 I picked. My ranger has the 4.0, and it still amazes me the torque it has. It gets up and goes when I hit the freeway. And this is a 90 with 90,000 miles on it.

You have the OHV version of the 4.0L Cologne, which is a little different than the one currently being used in the Mustang. The current one has a SOHC head on it. The OHV version was a very durable and reliable engine.

This thread doesn't make any since, if you're worried about HP, then why get a V6 to begin with!
