While it won't win any academy awards the driving sequences are extremely awesome. That Challenger gets flogged although three were used in the filming of the movie. And the car at the ending was a Camaro (look closely) they didn't waste a good MOPAR for the climax! Even the cop cars were MOPARS and they were cool as well. Neat to see all that old MOPAR iron getting run hard.

Just be sure you watch the older version as there is a 1996 remake. I actually own both movies and the 2nd one is not too bad and it does have real Challengers in it also.

Viggo Mortenson plays Jimmy Kowalski and Jason priestly plays the radio disc jockey in the TV-remake.

The older 1971 version is in widescreen while the Fox-TV remake is in full screen.

You can pick them both up for about $9.99 at Best Buy.

Tell me what you think about them. When I originally saw the 1971 version I felt depressed after the ending unlike the 2nd version but
you have to watch them both to find out why.

Hi all,
My first post here, tho I am no beginner with Challengers. I am a lady whose first 3 cars were Challengers: 1972 318, 1973 340, and my fave, 1970 383-Magnum R/T. When I first saw the new one online, I swear I nearly fell outta my chair in shock! That styling is purrrrrrrrrrfect.
I went to a local car show this weekend, hoping that the concept would be there. But no such luck, looks like it went to a bigger show out west.
So to soothe myself and my disappointment, I came home, sauteed some catfish filets, and watched the original Vanishing Point.
Love the flick, a great counter-culture period piece with that kick-butt Challenger as the star. I will have to rewatch the end tho for the Camaro switch-aroo mentioned above. I think I will be hearing that muscular engine sound in my dreams tonite
