Where are the updates, releases, etc. from DCX??

Maybe we are still to far off from production, but it seems like they rolled it out, announced it was a "go", announced the production plant, slapped some VERY basic info on their website, and since then have gone completely quiet.
They must know that all of us who are already rabid fans of this car are eagerly awaiting even the smallest morsel of public info from them, but we get deafening silence instead.
The delaerships seem to know next to nothing (and I live in DC, not in the middle of nowhere) as well.
I guess I just don't understand why Dodge isn't putting more effort into the hype / marketing aspect of this great car.
They must realize that they really do have a potential Mustang killer on their hands, and could really help to right the ship with this release....

So why the lack of info??

I signed up for updates from Dodge months ago, and I received exactly one, and it was about other vehicles!!

Anyone have any thoughts as to why all the hush-hush?? If I was them, I would be going out of my way to show the world how excited I am for my new product, getting it into Trade Mags, etc.

Dodge will show the production version of the Challenger in Feb 2008 at the Chicago Auto Show, after that it will be available to the public about a month after. The hype around this car is so big, Chrysler doesn't have to keep reminding people about it. Test mules are starting to show up, ie Challenger front clip on the Charger test mule.

Yeah, those mules are concerning me... I know they are just test cars, but I REALLY hope they don't screw the looks of this car up like they did with the Charger concept vs. production car.

Thanks for the info, have to see if I can get a cheap flight to Chicago in Feb now!!!!!!

Chrysler has stated that they will keep the car as close to the concept design, which means only slight changes will be made to it. Don't understand what concept Charger you are referring too, the 1999 one?

Well you are fairly new to this forum but since the Challenger was first introduced it has been hush, hush. While the Challenger was touring the country in 2006, there was not a lot of information that came out. As an example, the car was first shown in January but it wasn't until July 2006 that the press released that they were going to build it.

That is just the way DCX does it. They are quieter than everybody else. Nothing new here. Like was previously stated the production version will not be shown until the Chicago show. Patience is a virtue.

It is frustrating to hit the book store magazine racks and see Camaro, Camaro, Camaro along with buckets of Mustang stuff. I could hardly find a Challenger reference in all that gloss. I guess I am annoyed because I believe that the car is vastly superior to the other two. Aside from a couple articles and one major cover how much pub has it gotten.

I agree the car already has a strong grassroots following. Just like to see more news about it.

Yes, I agree it has been a long 16 months but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hang in there.

Yeah, the 99 Charger, I was just REALLY disappointed with the way they changed it for production and am praying that the same doesn't happen to the Chally. Back in the day, DCX mad comments about the production vehicle being similar on the Charger, and look how that turned out!

My theory about why there is so little info on the Challenger is that the king of copying hasn't completely made all the decisions for their new model. I think GM is waiting as usual to see what Dodge offers so then they can one up it. It also can pay off to release the info at the same time of the actual model by first off, not causing disappointments, but also save the buzz for when it is released instead of using the buzz before it can be purchased. As Jeremiah said, patience is a virtue.

RE: Where are the updates, releases, etc. from DCX??

I kinda wonder if Dodge isn't simply saving itself a lot of advertising costs by just staying quiet and letting "spy" photos of the Challenger in its various stages of production get out. Remember how the original concept car was pictured out in plain sight right after it was built? Then there were pics of the Charger "mule" with the Challenger front end clearly evident under a tight-fitting covering. Now there are more "spy" pics inside the factory where the Challenger mules are being assembled. All these things are getting posted all over the Net at absolutely no cost to Dodge. And after all, they said pretty much from the get-go that the production Challenger will be almost identical to the concept car. If that's true and -- B pillar aside -- it apparently is, we already know what the car's going to look like. Why hide it?
