new here

I'm new here. Pretty much hooked on getting an R/T with 6 spd, 20's and Trak-Pak. Just waiting for the right one to show up at the local dealership that the wife also likes.

I'm a Mustang guy at heart but love anything American Muscle (ok, including some Ausie muscle and some Euro stuff, just no rice and not too much bling). This will be my first non-Ford (sort of, the wife has had a few Jeep Cherokees and a Commander, but I didn't consider them mine) but I'm also keeping the 'Stang. Too much into it already to set it up for road coarse racing. And I need something to drive that is a little more roomy and more comfortable for longer trips with the family now that I stiffened up the Stang.

Anyway, even though my mind was already made up, thought I'd stop in here and see what the general word is on these cars. Seems like a good bunch here.

Be see'n ya!

You mean the Permagrin? :D Yeah, same as when I got my Mustang GT. I can't wait to leave work to drive it home.

You don't want my first impressions in this forum. I'm biased toward a 2006 Mustang GT that I have modified with the usual suspects for road course track events; tightened suspension, CAI, tune and other "minor" go fast bolt ons and I'm use to how that car behaves. I've had 3 years to get to know it and learn the new parts.

The Challenger right now feels more tame but that could be me getting used to it. That's all I'll say right now because I don't want to get banned from this forum, I haven't been here that long yet.

I will say that I can forsee the potential of the Challenger as a HOT street car (the Mustang is getting a little rough around the edges for routine driving) and I do not regret the purchase. Again, I repeat all :D's for the R/T!! YeeeHaw

Updated impressions of the R/T...

Still learning how to "leave" with the 6 spd but this thing sure does scoot from a roll!

The power drivers seat is nice but kind of sucks for accessing the rear seat. I seems to take forever to get the seat back forward to let the kids in and out. Or am I missing a "quick release" somewhere on the power driver's seat?

Another update. See, I told you my first impressions would not be the greatest and I reserved the right to give later updates.

After finding that the Charger 100% ESP Disable trick (turn key to start while driving) still works on the Challengers (at least my 09 R/T 6spd), I believe I will now be able to finally enjoy this car as much as my Mustang GT. :)

Until discovering that the ESP can be tricked into 100% off mode, I had been disapointed with the "launch" capabilities exhibited by my Challenger. But now, I think I'll need new tires by Christmas!! Just the way I like it!
