Thanx for the 6SPD 09
So I just picked up my Black 09 R/T 6spd. I opted for the 20" Vintage Mopar wheels that look gorgeous on the car. I also have a set of Titanium JBA shorty headers that will be going on hopefully next week. There are many other mods in store for this black beauty such as the Mopar Cold Air Kit, sill plates, custom graphics and possibly opening up the rest of the exhaust system.
I ve been very envious of this forum for quite some time now seeing as my father forced me to sell my 71 Challenger when I was younger and my 73 was stolen years ago and never returned. The 383 I had built and the 727 trans are long gone now and have been constant reminders of the cars I would never drive again. Now that the 09 is sitting in the driveway, I can only thank my friends and family, everyone at Dodge and the folks at MSN. This has truly been an awesome experience! |
RE: Thanx for the 6SPD 09
Sound's like we have the same car . I have over 3000 mile's on my Black Beauty. The first thing I did was take touch up paint from our Black 06 300C and paint in the shift number's and pattern . After getting the paint down in the number's and grooves . I took a cloth and wiped off the extra . I think it look's good. The pattern was much different than my MX-5 GT I traded in . Reverse was on the side next to 1st on it . K&N filter is the only thing I have done so far. I ordered the thing that block's the skip shift from 1st gear to 4th gear. Should get it Monday. Someone else on the forum told of it after putting it on his 6 speed R/T . I think the site is Speed.inc . Only cost about $19.00 plus shipping . And just plug's up to harness and trans.

Yeah I heard alot about the tricky 1-2 shifts and the use of the skip shift eliminator. After "playing" with the car abit earlier I learned it is extremely frustrating. I will be getting the eliminator as well. Thanx for the info!

Congrats 6SPDHEMI- we have the SRT in black and LOVE it - only about 700 on ours as it is not a primary vehicle - but a ton of fun to drive!!! Cold air intake only so far - waiting on the Predator for the 09 SRT and the cat back exhaust. A little appearance touch will be the Challenger emblems in script for the sides - looks classic. The shift thing can be weird until you get a feel for it - but if it is only $20 to fix - why not. There are so many things to love about it - Again Congrats!!![sm=smiley20.gif]

RE: Thanx for the 6SPD 09
Thanx, 2009SRT_wife! I put almost 100 miles on it in a day and half. Fortunately, I have a 99 Ram for working and a 2000 Durango for the fam so the Challenger will mostly see the inside of the garage and hopefully keep the miles down....but then again it is SOOOOO much fun to drive! The only exterior mods besides the wheels I want to do is custom "Ghost" R/T stripes like the 70s Challengers had. I'm hearing nothing but good things about the Cold Air Intake and look forward to putting it on only after I put on the headers and see if they make any difference!

Congrats 6spd,
Have you been in envy of the grin as well? Looks like you killed 2 birds with one stone. |
RE: Thanx for the 6SPD 09
70sguy, the "grin" is quite contageous! 2 birds with 1 stone indeed! However, I think I passed the envy on to the rest of the neighborhood LOL
