Wow...what a ride!

Hello to everyone. I purchased an '09 red Challenger R/T about 3 weeks ago. Went to the dealership "just to look." Well, needless to say I fell in love with this car at first sight. I didn't even think there would be one available to see, let alone buy. The salesman said that this was one of the first 3 R/T's to arrive at the dealership. The first test drive was just awesome...I had to take it home. I made a call to my wife and made more consessions than the 700 billion dollar bailout! We got the deal done and I've never been more satisfied with any car I've ever purchased.
This car screams "look at me...now, get out of my way!" Power everywhere and handles the road so smooth. I've seen people forget their green light because they were staring at her. The car brings me back to the eighties when I was a teenager trying to build the baddest ride for friday night cruising. Now three kids later, with job requirements, mortgage and marriage, I finally got my muscle car. I will keep this vehicle until I die and give it to one of my sons. To my wife, I would like to say you are the best, and thanks for your blessing. And the grin...well, it has not worn off since I left the dealership!

RE: Wow...what a ride!

Badboyz ...have you let your wife drive it yet? Maybe you can get rid of some of those concessions...My husband bought a 2009 SRT last Saturday. I got to drive it this morning for the first time - OMG!!! It is like a caged animal. That car is incredible. The power is always there - we have the standard 6speed - I can't believe it is legal to own a car like this. Car doesn't even sound like it should be allowed to be used to describe it. Heads turn all over the place. You hear it first - like a tiger is loose in the city. And the look on people's faces is like they can't believe what thye are seeing. The midnight black is gorgeous. Let your wife drive it - if she doesn't LOVE it I would be surprised. Just don't be mad if she gets a ticket or two. And if you still have to make all kind of concessions - Hell it is more than worth it!

Thanks everyone! I'm really looking forward to reading how everyone else feels about their Challengers. Some great advice here. Happy to say the wife absolutely loves the car! Planning on doing some mods in the near future, performance exaust, CAI...and I plan on a supercharger install when I learn more. Also, love the stripes on the Hurst Challenger from the SEMA show, but in gloss black, so this will be a work in progress. Just happy I got the car to begin with.

I will post pics soon.

Welcome to the Forum BadBoyz, I get as much or more attention with this Black 09 R/T than I did with the new 71 Challenger R/T . If you are going some place . But sure to leave early. Because as soon as you get out of the car. There will be people asking about it. I even had a guy stop in front of me in a Parking lot at the Mall and motion me around him . To only flag me down to ask about the car. I have the 6 speed Stick with 3.92 gear's. With almost 1600 mile's on the car since buying it Nov. 7th. My MPG has been 18 to a best of 25 mpg. Just be carefull about pulling out in traffic. I did a donut when I punch the pedal after a car was doing 60 in a 25 zone coming around a curve on me. True American Muscle again. You may have been too young for the 60s or 70's Muscle area . But It has gotten even better with the new Challenger.

badboyz, congrats on the new ride! Yes, the grin is very hard to get rid of (as if you want to). Always great to see new owners and hear their delight! 2009SRT_wife, always great to hear the wives and women owners voice their impressions as men are used to hearing comments form other men and can associate with them but to hear the same comments from a woman is very refreshing. Keep up the good work folks, lets get those Challengers out there and driving!

hahah badboy, I totally get the feeling, I'm still amazed at the attention one gets in this car, I had a guy literally jump out of his truck on Deerfoot (6 line highway through the city) in rush hour take 3 pics of my car and then gave me a thumbs up while the driver behind him was taking pics with his cell phone unaware taht the lane had opened up ahed, these guys held up traffic just to take a picture it was hilarious. The grin does not go away. Congrats man.

This car is definately an attention getter. Have to watch the burn outs or I'm gonna need new tires soon. One advantage I have is being a police officer. That's right, we like to have fun too! Believe me, the last thing you want to do is show this car to a bunch of cops that want to "see what it does." All my co-workers were drooling over the thought of this being a patrol car. Not a chance, as this car is so special. Told the guys at work that this thing would smoke anything we got in our fleet. Congrats to all the new owners out there. Oh by the way, our city mayor is gonna use my r/t in our upcoming Christmas parade. Should be fun to showcase the "new girl" in front of hundreds. Hope the mayor does not do burnouts or you'll be seeing me on youtube! Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and a safe holiday season. I'm not saying this because I'm a cop, but please don't drink and drive, seen some bad ones that were totally avoidable if they just got a ride. Enough said...stay safe and enjoy the ride!

I've had a bunch of Cops stop me just to see the car. I always provide them a little taste of SRT8 Challenger. They all love it and when I next see them I give them the GRIN and they give me the big thumbs up..;)

Awesome ! I am a buy in the Spring dude. About 6 weeks ago I saw a new Torred R/T fly past me and it turned into a parking lot. I promptly pulled in and talked with him for about a half an hour.

It really is an amazing car! I just sat in it in the garage checking out all the cool stuff on the nav system and the tunes! Looks like a 70 and rides like today. I love the interior they did a nice job.

RE: Wow...what a ride!

All the gadgets are fun, although a challenge to learn all the details. If you are not the primary driver, or if you have a different nav system with different features, the system is requires some learning. I did find out one down point about the nav system today (although probably safer) - you have to be parked to type in a location or specific point of interest. My Acura allows you to use all features of the nav system on the go. Ok - maybe I'm be a little picky. There are soooo many other things to love about it!

I finally got to take this wonderful beast to work - yes - I got to to take her out all by myself. I work in a school district and my superintendent loves cars. He used to have a Roadrunner. I took him for a casual spin and he loved it. All my principals wanted to take a spin too. It seemed like troopers were everywhere and we weren't even on the highway. My principal of grades kindergarten and 1st grade LOVED it. She said it reminded her of growing up. When I dropped her off she said she had to look at the tail lights and then she walked to the front to look at the grill. She was very impressed and it made me smile at the little things she noted as exceptional on the SRT. My middle school principal was dying to take it for a spin himself, but I said no way - but I could take him for a quick trip into the country. He said it reminded him of a Cuda. He said that 3rd gear was still the sweet spot. When I pulled back up to the middle school - the junior high kids were in awe. My principal looked around once more inside the car and in the back seat and said that the car brought back memories.... hmmmm. He said the car was bad to the bone and even more so with a chic driving it. I told my husband about the comment and he laughed. Everyone LOVED the cars which is always fun. Kids at the high school couldn't believe it was the curriculum director who was driving it.

RE: Wow...what a ride!

I didn't know that about the nav system. I'll have to read up on all the gizmos! Rare that a car causes such a stir-been along time since a American car evoked such reactions-Cool ain't it!

RE: Wow...what a ride!

Yeah brentmann... but there are ways to disable that feature... errr... lack thereof... ;)

2009SRT_wife 12-01-2008 05:08 PM

RE: Wow...what a ride!

Hey Mopar2Ya - How do you disable that feature of the nav system? Is that what you were saying to BrentmannRT09? (or do you mean you don't have the nav?:()
If you - or anyone - can let me in on that secret that would be great. At a minimum - the passenger should be able to manipulate and type into the nav system when driving along.

Again - not a very big deal to be picky about..... (especially if someone tells me how to bypass that):)

Thanks!

Thanks - I will have to look at it more. Have you actually used it yourself? Or do you know anyone who has? It seems great, especially if you are used to programming on the go.

Well brentmann... funny thing you should ask. I did happen to get the Zoomers cat back. Ordered them up... installed them myself with the use of a neighbors rack. Installed in about an hour and a half... and they sound SWEEEET! You can check them out here:

http://www.zoomersexhaust.com/

I understand there are less expensive options out there... but the sound is just soooooo nice.... ;)
