350 Small block

ok im overhauling a 350 small block to put in my 1976 shortbed, so i desided while i had the motor out i might as well paint it, so ive put 1 coat of chevy engine orange high temp spray paint and as i tryed to scrape off an old gasget a just barley nicked the block and scratched off some paint and i was wondering if anyone knew if another coat off paint would somewhat fix this proplem

and another thing i was also given a set of hooker headers for it to and i was worried about melting the spark plug wires because i had to take out the heat sheilds. I looked at buying so of that header rap stuff but it was going to tun me about 100 bucks and im a little short on money does anyone know how to make it that so i don't melt the wires without brakeing my budget.

Yeah you can get the heat insulators tubes. You put these on the end of your spark plug wires and then connect the wires to your plugs. You can get them at Auto Zone and cut them at the length you need for the wires protection. Good luck.

RE: 350 Small block

i painted the engine in the demon a few months back, and we tossed on an old intake and valve covers, along with the oil pan..then taped off any holes, like the exhaust ports, and put on enough coats of paint that we couldnt see any sign of the metal.

I also run hooker headers, and on my plug wires I have the soft tubes that almost look like a chainmail...ive never had any problems, and on my motor the #7 plug wire is often right against the header tube, as its very tight around there.
