'70 challenger: a cult classic

I found an article in the San Francisco Chronicle from June 17 of this year entitled '70 Challenger: a cult classic. Anytime the first sentence of a story begins "As a young man, I once fantasized tattooing my shoulder with this: "OA-5599." ...it certainly grabs my attention...

...another attention grabber several paragraphs in, "Dodge showed Ford what the Mustang really longed to be: the Dodge Challenger R/T was a 'Tang on steroids."

...I thought the group might enjoy the entire story, written by a Chronicle staffer who is also a Challenger and a Vanishing Point fan...

I liked the article... well almost all of it. And yes... yes it is 1970 all over again. And mybe somewhere there will be a GT-500 and a Challenger SRT-8 bouncing off the rev limiter, in a tug of war for asphalt supremacy. Throw in a Z-28 and a GTO. We have come full circle, lets enjoy it while it last.

Interesting. I wonder if the guy who wrote it actually believes some of the politically correct stuff he says (basically crying about pollution) or if he's just doing that to get it into print. Probably believes it. Sounds like a burned-out hippie to me. Real Men in the '70s DROVE to Mardi Gras, they didn't hitchhike. Only hippies did that -- cause most of them spent all the money they bummed off hard-working folks on pot and not on Dodge automobiles. ;)
