Black Brake Dust

I just passed the 1000 mile mark on my R/T, and I'm about sick of the brake dust all over the bottom of my car everytime I drive it. My wheel wells are thick with this crap, and the bottom of the car is filthy all the time. GRRRRRRRRR.

The black brake dust sure does make a mess and I don't know any cure for it that does not involve elbow grease. I spent an hour cleaning my wheels last night but I had fun doing it. I just hope that Hurst offers their wheels like the one on the Hurst Challenger to the public. I would be cleaning those twice a day if I could get them !!!

Some owners have changed over their pads to ceramics to eliminate the dust. I will keep mine until they wear out.

To make the cleaning easier, after I scrubbed the inside of the wheels with Simple Green, I coated them with Meguiars Tech 2.0 Wax and followed it up with Meguiars' NXT Detail Spray. The surface of the inner part of the wheel is now very slick and the brake dust comes off easily with a damp towel or hose.

I have not noticed this problem, I have about 1200 miles on mine. I do like the inside wheel waxing suggestion as I have been wanting to clean that area. Again, though inside the rim is not even black, just dirty.

it hasnt mattered with my dodges or my bmw, no matter what ive done, completely getting rid of brake dust seems to be impossible (unless you dont use the brakes).

on my stratus, i have slotted/drilled rotors with ceramic pads, and it seems that combo accumulates less dirt on the wheels.

Over 7000 miles on my R/T and it seems to have eased up. Not as much brake dust as when new, so it may deminish as time goes by.

I have the dust problem. Doesn't the SRT have different brake pads than the R/T? I know that the calipers are different- 4 piston Brembos vs. 2 piston.

i would imagine that theyre both using a performance pad, although i would guess that the SRT has a higher grade?
