Calif. sues 6 carmakers in global warming suit
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California filed a global warming lawsuit on Wednesday against Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - news), General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - news), Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T) and three other automakers, charging that greenhouse gases from their vehicles have cost the state millions of dollars. State Attorney General Bill Lockyer said the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Northern California was the first of its kind to seek to hold manufacturers liable for the damages caused by their vehicles' emissions. The lawsuit also names Chrysler Motors Corp., the U.S. arm of Germany's DaimlerChrysler (DCXGn.DE), and the North American units of Honda Motor Co. (7267.T) and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (7201.T). It also charges that vehicle emissions have contributed significantly to global warming and harmed the resources, infrastructure and environmental health of the most populous state in the United States. Lockyer, a Democrat, said the complaint states that under federal and state common law the automakers have created a public nuisance by producing "millions of vehicles that collectively emit massive quantities of carbon dioxide." Carbon dioxide emissions and other greenhouse gases have been linked to global warming. The lawsuit comes after California passed legislation supported by Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger that requires the state to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 25 percent by 2020. California was the first state to mandate reduction of greenhouse gases. California has also issued rules to force automakers to cut tailpipe emissions from cars and trucks. Enforcement of those rules is being delayed by litigation from automakers. |

I guess we are supposed to ignore the effort they have made to cutting down emissions. I hate to break it to these lawyers, but "global warming" is still just a theory, not a law.
The automotive corporations have been following the laws on the emissions rules and in many cases have exceeded the standards. We are supposed to ignore the efforts all of them have made to pass these obsessive complusive standards. People complain about people enforcing their beliefs on others, here is a prime example. This is why I don't like the environmentalist movement. They are never satisfied. At the beginning, maybe they needed improvement but things are good enough. |

The only people that benefit from this is the lawyers. They get paid. The people who will suffer, the people. These lawyers, where do you think they get their money? from the taxpaying citizen. And if they should happen to win, the car companies are not going to payout and take a loss. it will be passed on to, you guessed it. THE PEOPLE. That means the regular folks.

We all will pay if they win this case. These lawyers are nothing more than theives who use a pen and lies instead of a gun at a bank.
