Does anyone here know when a Camaro will actually be for sale at a US Chevy dealer?

no they delayed the release a month if i recall it was suppose to come out in march so maybe april the z-28 has been put on hold which basicaly means it has been canceled so thv v6 and maybe the SS will be out in april

They had one at a dealer here in Arizona just this last weekend...a friend stopped to check it out. So they must be out there...unless this was a corporate car, and was for display only?
(By the way, he liked it, but then he's a big Vette fan)

May is when they're officially supposed to debut (exact date I dunno). You might see one or two lurking around before that, though.

Don't worry, most Challengers owners will only be seeing the Camaro's front end.....in their rearview mirror.............

Very true,facts are facts.I luv all brands of muscle,and the new Challenger is bad to the bone.BUT,since I have been reading on here about R/T,s havin trouble with the puny 4.6 stangs,you all better stay clear of the new Camaro.IT WILL CLEAN YOUR CLOCK!! You will be down right embarrased.Even a SRT don,t have a prayer.I am not crazy about the front end of the Camaro,but the rest,esp. the rear,is down right awesome.

I don't care for the look's . And I think the older Camaro looked good most of the years it was made. The only thing worse than the outside look's is the dash from what I have seen in the magazines.

Ridge Runner and Kevin 2323 your facts are what? I have not seen a Camaro on the road so I fail to see the facts. You read in a few mags of posted 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? I deal with fact too. I don't see this as true on the street. When dealing with fact it should be based on fact. Anything else is conjector. I will not know for a fact until I read more street interaction and as of yet I have not seen any Camaros on the street. And before you go into a flame war remember where you are at and what the name of the forum is. I feel these words were not written without the knowledge of stirring up a hoenets nest. Be specific when doing the car for car. Most Camaros will be 300 hp 6 cylinders. To say an SRT-8 will not have a prayer... bold statement backed by opinion. Nice real nice.

I love my car like it is and I don't intend to race it. But if a little quarter mile sprint with an SS occurs I could be a better driver than the SS guy. Then again he may smoke me. Here's what I like. We have a very comfortable car (two people) with looks and performance that most people salivate over. I don't believe that will change, because The Challenger is way better looking than the new Mustang or Camaro. The Hemi is well proven and in my case I have a tranny proven in the Viper. I could not ask for much more. Just the people who I have met who want to talk Challenger has been worth the price of admission.

it is simple math...less wieght 6 speed auto and manual ...426 hp=faster than our cars.

On the road in Canada
 

I've seen 2 on the road this week, 1 yellow,1 silver. Both in the Oshawa area, which is where they are being built. The guy in the yellow car must have thought I was stalking him in my wife's Corolla as I was trying to get some shots with my camera phone. Got 1 decent pic, will try and get it uploaded shortly.

I do have to agree. I've read a few articles that make it sound like the top end Camaro will blow our doors off, but it really comes down to looks, and we've got it. I followed this guy for a good 15 minutes (yes,inthe dark and rain), but really never was impressed by any angle. I've seen a few Challengers on the road and they always make the ol' ticker skip a beat.

Gear ratio and suspension.. tires and coditions to name a few. Less weight by 250 lbs and 425 is not the base Camaro HP rating. Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said So this is where I say facts. SRT-8 Challenger was brought into the fray and with times likes this its a drivers race. 6.2 and they get 422 HP. Dodge has 6.1 and they get 425. 5.7 under rated at 376... more like 390 HP. So I guess those fanboys should chime in and remind you to wait... and see what the facts will be. I'm 50 years old and it seems the same old thing just with newer people. I lived the muscle car years and I know what the mags say. But on the street... we'll see.

The side view of that car is not extremely attractive. Looks like a V6 car due to the lack of spoilers. Could be a test mule as the wheels are not factory. Then again they may be in the Canadian dealerships already. Anybody who does not bleed Chevy or Blue Oval has to admit that the Challenger just looks better. Mosy people said the same thing in 1970 but Camaro and Mustang out sold the Challenger then. For whatever the reason it does not look like Chrysler is going to build enough cars to be serious sales competition for Camaro or Mustang. I live in a medium size city and you can't find any selection of V6 Challengers at any Dodge dealer here. Most have one or two $45,000.00 SRT8's sitting in the showroom and nothing else (Challenger wise) in inventory. Based upon all the Challenger articles I have read that mentioned the build prioritys originally released to the press by Chrysler there should be many more V6 Challengers for sale at each dealership. Ebay is a good example. It's much easier to find a R/T or SRT. Tring to find a low option V6 (a $22000.00 car) is really tough.

Uhhhhh....I have a factory spoiler on my V-6 Mustang. And if I would have gotten an R/T or SRT Challenger, I would have removed the rear spoiler. I never liked them on the rear of the 1970 models and like them even less on the '09s. However, I DO like the one on my Mustang. ;)

Saw the new Camaro up close and personal this past weekend
 

I was at the local Richmond, Va, Motor Trend Auto Show this past weekend and got to see and sit in a new red Camaro. The Camaro is considerably smaller than the Challenger, and doesn't look nearly as aggressive. The rear seat is virtually unusable and you would be challenged (no pun intended) to get a set of golf clubs in the trunk. Dodge definitely has done a better job of incorporating the "retro styling" than Chevy. My first car, which I still own, happens to be a 1968 Camaro convertible in Matador Red, so I was very interested in the "new" Camaro. In fact, the first thing my wife and daughters asked when I told them I was looking at the Challenger was, "but don't you want to wait and see what the new Camaro looks like". The new Camaro is certainly light years ahead of what Chevy did to it in the 90's, but I think they may have slightly missed the missed mark, here. And I must say that after seeing the Camaro in person I definitely made the correct choice when I bought my SRT8 last fall.

Also got to see the new 2010 Mustang GT and although I like what Ford has done with the roof line and "bump ups" on the rear quarter panels, they completely screwed up the rear end.

Spoiler's are optional on the V6 LT. The RS and SS come with a rear spoiler although I am not sure they come with the same spoiler.

with or without a spoiler it still looks awful
