It will be the perfect car for the highly paid Cerberus executive. The day after Cerberus Capital Management LLC announced it was buying Chrysler, the Toronto Star reported Chrysler will build the luxurious Imperial concept car shown at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The newspaper reported Chrysler will build the car beginning in 2009 at its Brampton, Ontario, plant, where it also manufactures the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Magnum and the upcoming Dodge Challenger.
The Imperial shown in Detroit had a pair of facing doors on each side that swing outward in opposite directions to provide a panoramic view of the interior, which is trimmed in rich leather and suede.
At the time, we said, "The stretched-out concept car looks smooth and elegant -- the kind of car you'd expect to see chauffeured, not driven by the actual owner."
I think an interesting point in this is that the car will share production capacity with the other models above. Leads me to believe Challenger numbers will not be overwhelmingly high if they compete for the line with four other models.

RE: Chrysler to make Imperial
That car is the ideal luxury car. It screams wealth. Nice car for sure. I remember when Chrysler meant luxury in excess. Nice to see them back on track. There will be a lot of rich folks looking at the Imperial if it is built.

i think that the imperial is gorgeous, but its not something that i would consider...if im going to buy a luxury car, it will be a 300C SRT8 or an M5...

It isn't my taste. I'm glad that Chrysler might finally have a model that will be classified as luxury, but in my eyes it should attempt to be a Rolls Royce/Bentley/Maybach type competitor. It should be a little more mainstream. If they would just lose the non-C version of the 300C, it would be considered a luxury car.
