Now E85 makes a lot more sense for cars that would otherwise need premium the initial price savings is a lot more noteworthy as E85 offers more octane than premium and costs much less than regular gasoline alone. The higher compression can better utilize the power potential that E85 has. Though I still think we should pursue Butanol instead.

Yes I agree. From what I have read, using butanol would be more beneficial as it can be used without special upgrades to the fuel system. But the problem is cost. It cost a little more for refining than ethanol. I would have to look it up again, but I believe that butanol has one more carbon added to it than ethanol, but is made from the same stuff.
Also, like I said before I need to research more on this as it has been awhile, but I didn't see anything about butanol being used for diesel fuel as where ethanol that have E95 for diesel fuel. I am sure it can be done though. on a side note, I just read your sig, funny. Now if you were to get your PhD you could have your BS Piled Higher and Deeper.:D |

Yes, there is E95 that is used for some diesel engines. When I read it before somewhere it didn't say some. Just that it was used for diesel. Wikipedia says for some diesel engines. I thought I saw it on the E85 site, but can't find it now.

I don't think that is a number? The E85 is 105 octane. I believe the number represents % of ethanol. So I can't see it being 105%?
