But alas, the El Camino has been out.... Well, not really.... Down Under there is a version of the Camino. It's called the Ute. I have never been an El Camino fan but the pics of that one look pretty good. Personally I would come out with the Chevelle first then introduce the El Camino as a take off of the Chevelle as it was yesteryear IFFFFFFF it ever came to that but with Bob Lutz in charge, pipe dreams are the in thing.

As you scroll down, the first two pics are pretty close to the pics I have seen of the proposed G8. (The red ones) The pic says 2006 Grand prix SS but the pics I have seen through Pontiac, this car is the G8 but with hood scoops of the first pic on the 2nd pic) . Notice the similarities to the GTO. The lower facia is the Monaro facia, I wish they would have put on the current GTO, but Bob Lutz thought better of it.
The pics of the Ute are near the bottom as you scroll down. I don't much care for it. I know of no plans to introduce the Ute to the states.

I have had family member who owned El Camino's so don't take this negatively. I would not buy one.
If I got a truck, then I would stylize it but I would not buy an El Camino.
One thing about the older El Camino's is that they were bad machines.

ive seen the holden version of this around here...there is a guy with a black one. he did a nice burnout at the woodward dream cruise last year...and amanda and I have seen G8s riding around the area...specifically on 75...the same areas where we saw the new Z06 a year before it was released...as well as new GT500s.
that being said, I would never buy an el camino, or any car/truck vehicle...they cant be functional as trucks, much like the SSR. if i wanted a vehicle that looked like that, i would just get a GTO.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to buy a truck like that which offers none of the benefits of a truck. The SSR was proof that this market segment will not come back.

IF the back was open it would be ok, for someone like me. I could use it to haul the dirt bike, but then have a performance vehicle. It would be easy for me to get the bike in the back as it is lower and I am short.
Another issue I could see is the rear end weight. It may be a little to light and would not hook up easily.
