My farther use to say God rest his soul, if you have to worry about the price of gas or insurance son, you can not afford the car.. I live by that still today.

I don't know if that formula works if you're under 25. . . My car insurance is still more than my car payment.

I agree. I am buying an SRT, but it won't be my daily ride.

However, with the 5.7 supposedly going up to 380 hp and coming equipped with a lifetime powertrain warranty (as opposed to 3 yrs.), I was wondering how many of you have now been swayed into buying the R/T?

I heard some good news the other day for future SRT buyers. Because Dodge has slightly increased the 6.1L's fuel economy, its gas guzzler tax has been reduced from $2,100 to $1,700...still a lot of money to give Uncle Sam, but at least its $400 less than the 2008s. :)

Here is the tax table:

Actually with those numbers and me in my 3:91 geared, torqueflite shifted 3-speed... thats gas sipper territory:D I believe my mileage was in the 11 range and worst open highway trying to keep up with 75-80 mph. Maybe 9:) But the sound of that 340 small block at 4800 rpm in sswwweeeettt. The sight of that next gas station is a pain in the.... wallet:D

Honestly if they didn't have this lifetime power-train warranty for the R/T... I'd still seriously be considering a used vette' for the 31k or 32k price tag were gonna see... the warranty is what's convincing me to buy new again... I said i'd never do it but with this car why not...
