I do like Jeep world...it's impressive, kind of reminds of how they do super cross tracks...

Jeep trail-rated course will feature live drive

BY IRA SIEGEL SouthtownStar Auto Reporter

For the fourth year in a row, consumers will be given free test rides in Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles at the Chrysler Group’s exhibit inside McCormick Place South during the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, Feb. 8-17.

According to Wendy Orthman, Midwest public relations manager with Chrysler, a total of 14 vehicles, including the all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8, 2009 Dodge Ram, and Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen Hybrids will be operating on the test track.

Orthman said the test tracks span nearly a mile in length and include more than 1,100 cubic yards of topsoil, boulders, gravel, and concrete and course timbers.

The indoor test track includes a Jeep trail-rated course and Dodge Truck off-road course, each offering obstacles and a 16-foot mountain. New track elements for 2008 include a Jeep Track Articulation element.

The test track has become a popular feature at the Chicago Auto Show. “A total of 102,107 rides were given last year,” Orthman said. That’s about 16,000 more rides than the year before.

Many Chicago Auto Show patrons are seen running to the test track area once the doors open to beat the lines that quickly form.

Participants claim the use of professional drivers for the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles only adds to the excitement.

The ventilation system around the test track is good so there is little hint of exhaust fumes. The test track is one of the most popular events at the auto show.

The shortest lines are found in the morning when the doors open at 10 a.m. If you do encounter lines, though, they move fairly fast because there are plenty of vehicles operating on the track at one time.

Jeep branding is great.

I like Jeep but the Liberty is by far the scariest model I've owned from them.

The thing that amazes me the most about the liberty is the density. My mom owns one, and it's almost 6000lbs? WOW....is there some lead/iron alloy that provides greater strength? I mean, It's not particularly large to be that heavy....luckily, my mom has had limited issues with her...maybe she got the one good one produced! ;)

My issue for me is the Liberty that my wife and drive is that its a 2WD Sport and I've never been, I guess, "comfortable" driving it. My wife and I have had no issues with the SUV, its been great on gas, easy to maintain but I'm more at ease driving my truck. Its hard to explain but overall its a decent little SUV.

A trip into the future and this is all that comes back. As much as my Jeep has been good to me, I think I would have got some photos of the Challenger rollout or something... [&:]

BTW 200k have only done a brake job, alternator, couple of serpentine belts, couple of batteries and couple of sets of tires... Jeep has been pretty good to me. ;)
