RE: July 4th Weekend?

While I love fireworks, it has been so dry around the central Texas that we have a ban in several towns.

No fireworks for me this year. I also love smoke bombs but I dont think they are allowed either.

Went to a concert last night - just my wife and I (and about 30000 people who looked too old to go to a concert). Kids are away for another week.
Mowing the lawn, doing oil changes and washing and waxing the cars, touching up the paint on the 1992 Toyota "beater" we picked up a few weeks ago, and maybe grilling some steaks - every night.
Saving our pennies for our 09 SRT so we stay home and entertain ourselves more often than in past years.
:)

cleaning yard this morning, going out this afternoon to a festival and downtown for fireworks on the river. Tomorrow wash the car and trucks early then head down to Daytona. Sunday having some friends over and cooking out and turn up a couple of cool ones.

Has anyone here used a torpedo? They were banned a long time ago but I read about them. They were balls that you threw at a wall and they'd explode.

The old tennis ball filled with the tops of wood kitchen matches....the neighbor is wigged....he likes sparkler bombs also.

With the '09 SE on order, we're already down to grilling hamburgers at best. ;)

I hear ya, Bud. Burgers just about every night, but with the kids gone for two weeks (and they eat EVERYTHING IN VOLUME!), we get to sniff a few steaks. Two less mouthes to feed for another week might even mean a couple of pints of Ben & Jerrys for Mom and Dad. She likes Coffee Heath Bar / Carmel Sutra, and I like New York Super Fudge Chunk (she steals all of the white chocolate out of mine) and Chubby Hubby. I'm working on fulfilling the "prophecy" of that flavor.
:D

Haha! Sounds like you all had more fun than I did.

I worked... not that it mattered. Fireworks got rained out, so a couple of my friends and I went to shoot some hoops and chill out. It wasn't too bad though. More fun shall be had tomorrow.

I set of some fireworks with the neighbors on the street corner at an intersection.
Most of the stuff I had was small stuff I had left over from 2 years ago.
It was fun though.
Next year I'm gonna go buy the BIGGEST display fireworks they have,
the kind that has dozens of tubes in a cluster and costs something like $40 (or more?)
I want to impress the sh*t out of the neighbors next year!
Dang. I wish I had thought ahead and bought some big stuff this year.

18 holes of golf on a 95 degree day, then that nice nap that reminds me it's a guilt free day off. Oh did I mention the nap was Patron induced :)

In alaska at the gold mine, we would make good use of the black powder, and blow up the setteling ponds with C-4. In california, I dont think I'm allowed to smoke on the 4th!
