Let's Refuel America: Chrysler Offers To Ease Your Pain at the Pump
DETROIT — Chrysler announced today "Let's Refuel America," an "economic stimulus" program designed to protect consumers from rising gas prices for three years.
With the U.S. purchase of eligible Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, customers can enroll in the "Let's Refuel America" program and receive a gas card that allows them to purchase gas at $2.99 for the next three years.
"Today we are proud to introduce an unprecedented program to help put customers' minds at ease and do something to help working people who are worried about the volatility of fuel prices and vehicle cost of ownership," said Jim Press, vice chairman and president, Chrysler LLC. "The Let's Refuel America Price Guarantee puts money in your pocket today, and allows our customers to better manage their fuel expenses. And you can't get it anywhere else besides a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership."
The Let's Refuel America program works in lieu of other Chrysler incentives, and offers consumers a combination of the fuel price protection program and additional bonus cash up to $3,000 on 23 vehicles, including the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Charger, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Ram and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Customers register via a dedicated Web site or toll-free 800 number and receive a gas card and PIN within four to six weeks. The customer then swipes the card at an eligible gas station, selecting up to 87 octane regular, E85 fuel or diesel fuel, and enters their PIN. After the fuel transaction occurs, the customer's personal credit card (identified in the registration process) is charged $2.99 per gallon.
Not included in the program are all SRT models, Chrysler Crossfire, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Ram Chassis Cab, Dodge Sprinter, Dodge Viper and Jeep Wrangler.
Available at over 3,500 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships throughout the United States, the Let's Refuel America program ends June 2, 2008.

RE: Let's Refuel America: Chrysler Offers To Ease Your Pain at the Pump
When I saw this offer, it was supposedly offered only on the Chrysler Sebring and Jeep Compass - the 2 most frighteningly hideous cars that Chrysler has to offer (or anyone else, for that matter). I don't care if I only paid $1 a gallon, there's no way I could ever drive something so mortifyingly ghastly with a clear conscience. [:'(]
Maybe the situation has changed since there were probably no takers for the Sebring or Compass, no matter how sweet the deal...

Hmmm...tempting. How long will this offer take place? The only problem I can see is with E85. If your paying the same price as gasoline, why bother since it gets worse fuel economy? Will this work with any gas brand, including independent stations?
