Let's talk Catch cans
 

I have had my car for 1 year now and we have 1,500 miles on it. I bought a catch can last winter but had reservations about using it. I took off the air cleaner system of my Challenger today to install my 180* thermostat. I was surprised to see oil on the throttle blade. I opened the blade and stuck my finger in behind it and it was covered with an oily residue. After I got done with the new thermostat I gave in and installed the catch can. I am now a believer in them and I hope it cleans out the intake from the oily residue.

If you think the throttle body is bad, you should see the cylinders and valves of a hemi engine with some miles on it. I bought my BT last year and I am glad I did. Cheap insurance for $100 and it looks great, too!

I too have installed the catch can and feel that it is a help. I have emptied it and see that there was 2 to 3 ozs. of goo that has been kept out of my intake tracks. I too am a believer.

I was totally shocked with how Olly it was in there. I only have 1,500 not 15k miles. It looked terrible for so few miles. I'm going to pull the air cleaner this fall and see if it has cleaned up and looks dry.

I am a believer. There is alot of debate over the CC. No one has mentioned how much the good old throttle body cleaning costs. I think the dealer wanted like $250 on my Caravan.

I received mine in the mail today and I plan on having it installed in the very near future. I wish I knew of the need for having this contraption sooner. My SRT8 only has 1,400mi on her but I wish I knew then what I do know now. But in all fairness this is the very first I've heard about the need for having these. Oh well, live and learn!

I don't think it is a must. But for what it keeps out of the intake track I think its worth the cost. Sort of like running the best oil over the minimum oil needed. I like the best and I use it in all my cars. Just added insurance to cover all the bases. The first time you empty your can out you will see that it was well worth it. You will think that could of went right through my intake and on top of my pistons. To sit and simmer on the top until the engine cools down. So its what it is and I think worth the cost.
