My Heart sank!

This afternoon when I uncovered the R/T I went numb. Not only are both rockers broken but the dash was white. I have heard of some people having blotches but this is pure white. The good news is when I backed it out side the sun cleared it off like frost. It was sticky when we wiped the rest that the sun didn't reach.

Dang, that is crazy! I wonder if anyone out there in the poly industry could explain that.

canadiancanuck 03-21-2010 07:56 PM

WTF!!! holy jeebus Rare... what the heck, you don't by chance use armour all do you?? the silicone can do that on dashes before it dries it our and cracks.

RareTA 03-21-2010 11:59 PM

No Armour all at all. I have never used anything on the dash. All we do is wipe it down with a damp rag when we wash the car.

I wonder if it was still a little damp when parked and setting in the cold made it "frost" up, or maybe high humidity in the storage building? Or maybe something in the air in the building? We park ours in a non heated garage every night, but it gets driven most every day.

Damn!!! never seen anything like that.

I defiantly was not frost. It left a sticky or oily type film after to dissolved. I just got back from the dealer and they were shocked also. I picked up some cleaner they had to get the film off.

I was just over to my buddy's yesterday and his SRT dash is the same way. Broken rockers and all! We had several days last winter that the temps go below -30*. Many days in a row and several times.

canadiancanuck 03-26-2010 06:33 AM

^ I drive in -30 degree weather and all yar round, never had the dash do that. I thin kteh first week I had the first car it was parked out in the snow. Still amazing to see.

RareTA 03-26-2010 07:46 AM

He had an 05 300 HEMI that he traded in on his SRT. He said it did it also but not as bad and they drove that car in the winter. He said when the heater would worm the car up it would go away and be back in the morning.

Assuming that's something released by the plastic in the dash, I wonder what we're breathing in these cars.

RareTA 03-28-2010 05:14 AM

No kidding........makes a person think dosn't it.

tdub2112 03-28-2010 08:55 PM

On a funny note, now that i finally see it, I think the car would look good with some white leather seats and all white interior. Jus sayin' :D

But yes, it's extremely wierd that that happened. I have never see that before in my short little 16 year life.

I'm guessing that your buddy is in Fargo also, did he get his at the same dealer? Could it be that the dealer wipes something (like Armor All) on the dash to make it shine and to "protect" it?

Doozle 04-05-2010 02:31 PM

Don't mean to tread on any toes here but I've heard from multiple sources that Armour All is only supposed to be used on tires only. In fact I hear it may actually accelerate the drying process on interior products. From what I've been told McGuire's interior shine is tough to beat. I do hope your car's interior is okay!

Doozle.

I have never put anything on the dash!! The only thing we due is wipe down with a damp rag when we wash the car. Never have any vinyl products been used on it.

73sixpack 05-27-2010 06:10 AM

Just wondering, what ever came of this.

RareTA 05-27-2010 02:39 PM

As soon as the sun hit it the stuff went away. I did buy some cleaner at the dealer to clean the dash with. My friends SRT djd the same thing.
