RE: Theres Trouble (G8/GXP) LS3-402hp....4.7!!!

it's the LS3, but a de-tuned version of the Corvette's LS3 which puts out somewhere in the 430hp range. The GOAT had a 6.0 LS2 and supposedly it wasn't very consistent with the power. So the LS3 is im pretty sure a 6.3 litre engine.

Ok... so the engine is not a 4.7 liter. Its a 6.0 . That would explain alot and make sense. Again I say no problemo:D

I think it runs 0-60 in 4.7, Motor Trend put the challenger at 4.7 0-60 in the test with the GT500. With some mods we won't have anything to worry about.;)

no i don't think there gonna bring back the GOAT but they'll prolly make a G8 coupe(pretty much a re-designed, goat)
This new platform Pontiac is working with has a lot of potential, I mean there pretty much copying ChryslerDodge with the LX,
there talking about putting out the re-designed el camino, truck/car thing on this platform to... we'll see... they said it could become a wagon though, go figure are wagon just went away.

There really stupid if they don't come out with a Trans Am/Firebird.

I agree on the Firebird. I'd like to see this gospel of the perils of brand saturation and cannibalization between brands.

If they sell 5 Firebirds and 5 Camaros as opposed to 10 Camaros, what's the difference. Seems like you'll get more from enthusiasts from each brand. 6 Camaros and 6 Firebirds seems more likely than 10 Camaros. At the end of the day you've sold 12 units in this scenario.

They need an cranal anal inversion extraction. Because there heads are obviously not where they need to be.

I mean pontiac is supposed to be their sport brand.

RE: Theres Trouble (G8/GXP) LS3-402hp....4.7!!!

I will give Pontiac (or rightfully Holden) credit for what they have done with this car. The G8 GXP will be a good contender no matter what; however, you have to remember that once again the Charger is in its 3rd year and is due for an update. Any advantage they might have initially will be calculated when Chrysler decides to update the models.

If they tested a manual with 4.7 secs, then that will most likely be the faster of the two and does not completely defeat the SRT-8 Charger as the difference is in the margin of error range. The LS3 is a 6.2L engine OHV 2 valve engine that has VVT. The original version of this engine size and technology was used on the Cadillac Escalade and then used on the Corvette for its output version of the LS3. The question is is the output actually lower or are they doing what they did back in 98-02 again with underrating the engine to hopefully prevent sales cannibalization.

The issue about bringing back both models is a simple case of economics. The cost of building two models costs more than building one models in R&D and other expenses, they are wanting to only spend money on one model and unfortunately they are building the wrong one. The one thing I don't like that Lutz is doing is he is building Chevrolet up to being GM's best offering under Cadillac which is a bad idea as it defeats the purpose of Pontiac, Saturn, and Buick. Chevrolet already has the Corvette and does not need the Camaro for its identity as badly as Pontiac needs the Firebird because unlike Chevrolet, Pontiac is GM's performance brand and a performance brand needs a muscle car far more than a cheap, miscellaneous division.
