Volkswagen TDI emissions?

RE: Volkswagen TDI emissions?
the new 09 jetta TDI and TDI wagon meet 50 state emission standards. They are cleaner, more efficient, and have more power than previous versions. I've got an 04 Jetta TDI....great car and I've got 50mpg on the highway.

I used to get 50mpg in my '89 Honda CRX HF.
Kills me to think it was easy to do 20 years ago, but it is almost unheard of these days.
Clearly, it's not a matter of lacking technology

yep, 50mpg....of course when my wife drives it mpg goes down to 40. My best tank of gas was 610 miles on a tank, took 12 gal to fill it up. I'm a big fan of diesels for small cars, much simpler and reliable than hybrids, and mpg is consistent. I am curious though about the new electric cars chrysler just came out with, especially the 200C, it looks pretty sharp.
