What was your first NEW car?

So, along the same lines, what was the first new car that you got? few people get a car from a dealership, as many inherit cars, or buy them from another person like i did....

but anyways, what was the first car that you got new, or if you havent bought a new car, first car that you dealership shopped for?

mine was my 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T coupe...i got it with the autostick because of the bad knee at the time...and while i enjoy it, i wish it was a stick...

1993 Ford Ranger XLT standard cab - green- MTX with the 4 cylinder engine. They wanted 12,000 for it and I got them down to 9000. My dad was there and was proud of my haggling. :D. I got rid of it in 96 for a ram 4x4. It had close to 150,000 miles on it and they only problem it was having was the clutch was going out.

Do I have to say?

...1991 Dodge Colt. Yeah... one of these [URL=http://www.discreteautos.net/files/pT6nxVgr7HXgrkNtxKgMasIUgZyNsPrYi/1991%20Dodge%20Colt%20Hatchback.jpg]
My Duster had died and I was sick of my MG Midget spending more time in the shop than on the road... so I opted for cheap and functional. (Only made that mistake one other time in my life.)

Got rid of the Colt for my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. That was also new and a damn good truck. 5.2 liter engine, 5 speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, SLT Laramie, in white. DAMN good truck. Never should ahve gotten rid of that truck...

I feel the same as you Mac. I had a 96 4x4 ATX 5.2 green standard cab. It was a good truck, but was leased so I traded it for a 2000 Nissan Crew Cab 4x4. To this day I kick myself for not just outright buying it.

RE: What was your first NEW car?

Well I dealer shopped for my Intrepid. I was originally intending to get either a Dodge Avenger 2.0L 5-speed manual, Eagle Talon either Turbo or non-Turbo 5-speed, or an Eagle Vision (sister car to the Intrepid). I couldn't find an Avenger with a manual in either good enough shape or at the right price. I found two Talons but one had too many miles and the other was puchased right before I got a chance to drive it, and I was ready to buy it too. I couldn't find a Vision whatsoever. I came across the Intrepid by accident and didn't think much of it at first. I have always liked the looks of Intrepids, I just liked the Visions better. After I test drove it, I had to have it.

RE: What was your first NEW car?

My first and only brand spanking new car was a 2002 Jetta 1.8T. For a heavy car it could haul arse. Got it on a Fathers Day at a VW dealership out in San Diego, CA. Came with the Tiptronic transmission and I had a blast learning the how and when to shift with that system. Well, I lost control of it one day doing about 55-60mph down a busy highway in TX from a rear right tire blow out which sent the rim right to the pavement and put me at a bad angle and hit the concrete divider in the highway. It was kind of fun afterwards because I had a guy in a BMW and a pretty nice vette pull over and asked if I was alright...then they said that was pretty cool wreck to watch.[&:]

I'm 41 and I've never purchased a new car! Didn't want to take the depreciation hit by driving one off the lot.

I'm hoping the Challenger will be my first new car. I'll take the hit on that one! It is worthy.

Promise NOT to tell anybody! 1980 Mercury Bobcat, AKA. Pinto...... HEY! I heard that! We're all young and stupid once! Drove it home and thought , man this thing doesn't seem to have much oomph and wow that gas gauge sure is dropping fast! Took it back later that week and it was a tooth out of time from the factory! Funny thing it didn't run much better after they addressed the problem. What a pile of crap that thing was! Had it less than a year and sold it. Yes I took a big loss but I absolutely hated that heap. [:@] NOW STOP LAUGHING AT ME!:D
