The worst domestic engines ever made.

In your opinion, what is the worst engines the domestic manufactures have made?

My list (which I'm sure is very bias)!

Chrysler:

the 2.7L V6, can't think of any others from them.

GM:

The 60 degree V6 engines (2.8L, 3.1L, 3.4L, 3.4L 24 valve, 3.5L 12valve), the Quad fours, the Vega engine, I've heard bad things about the 454.

Ford:

The 90 degree 3.8L V6 (so many headgaskets and failures, such little money), the Duratech family (2.5L/3.0L V6), the Duratech inspired 96-99 SHO (3.4L engine self-destruct issues).

im not sure about this one...i know that the 2.7s had problems...and for what its worth, ive seen some great running (and very fast) quad4s...

RE: The worst domestic engines ever made.

I'm referring to reliability. The 2.7L has had more than just sludge problems. They snap timing chains, I have read of some head issues, and something else that escapes me.

The Quad fours are fast but not the best in quality. I have seen many a blown Quad 4, that had to be replaced many times over.

BTW, I meant to put this in the off topic section. Don't you think it should be moved there?

ill move it...

i was mistaken on both of your threads like this..i thought that we were doing performance comparisons...

when i worked for dodge, i saw ALOT of melted down 2.7s because of the sludge plugging up the vent valves and cooking them...ive also seen plenty of blown quad4s...
