RE: Pictures of a European Challenger
Those do look very nice. What I think would look cool is if someone would do that with a Viper. That would fit even better than on a classic Challenger, which still looks very nice.

RE: Pictures of a European Challenger
Really? I would think it would be difficult to do that on many cars. About how much does that cost?

RE: Pictures of a European Challenger
im not certain, but the one company that i know of (the biggest) charges about 2 grand for the hinges and hardware.
ive been in a car with lambo doors that wasnt meant to have them, and its tough in a way. it was a 3000GT, and the doors are very long, and heavy. so when youre sitting so low in the car, trying to push the door out, then up away from you is tough for someone who is small. the person who owned the car that i was in came back with his GF, and when she got in, she couldnt get back out, because she couldnt open the door.

That would be scary if you couldn't open the door and the car was on fire, train was come toward you at 50 MPH or terrorist were shooting at you.

RE: Pictures of a European Challenger
cars that are built to have lifting doors have lighter doors, and the hinges are specifically made with the proper pressure to lift those doors. these kits that you can buy for all sorts of cars are going on heavy doors, and the hinges are made to fit, not to make it easier to lift them.

Hinges!
I didn't think about that...The other thing I would want to know is if this kit was made specifically for the Challenger. I would be a little worried about a "generic" lambo kit. I have seen some kits on ricer imports, and while they look cool, the welding and hacking required for the hinges was HIDEOUS!
I did see a kit on an older Camaro, and the thing had gigantic gas-charged shocks to open and support the doors. You could lift it with your finger.
There was an older Diablo at the shop I used to work at and the doors were light, and fragile. That door could be pushed up with your finger. I felt clasutrophobic in that thing, and I am 5' 7" 135 lbs! Sheesh.

RE: Hinges!
most companies use a relatively generalized hinge kit, but they are made to fit into the door jam with relatively little cutting and welding...the 3000GT that i was in had a pretty simple bolt up kit. i found pictures
