Default $65,000 for a Challenger

My father owned a 1970 Dodge Challenger and when I heard that the Challenger was making a comeback it's been the only car I've wanted. Then the pricing came out and I thought, "hey I might be able to afford this car". Boy was I wrong. I then went and spoke to some of the local dealer and found that this car is affordable only to the super rich as no dealer will sell this car for less than $65,000. They also told me that after this year the 5.7 liter engine will be the biggest that this car will have, which is a total rip-off. What gives here?

showstoper93, first of all I welcome you to the site. Now to answer your question, that dealer is adding about a $25K addition to the price. My advice go to a different dealer. The 6.1L is around $40K. As far as we are aware, they will be continuing to offer the 6.1L as well as have a manual option and will offer the 5.7L and 3.5L, your dealership is feeding you lies so then you get into a panic and want to get the 6.1L automatic now at the higher price. In fact there are rumors that a bigger engine either a 6.4L or 6.5L will be offered in the Challenger later.

Browse the site showstoper. Many have the car on order for MSRP. Got my SRT8 for 42k. Don't fall for the hype that you must pay 20k over. The 09's are coming out just a few months after the 08's. Prices will fall. Welcome!

Plus, with the cts v, a vastly superior car, is priced at 65K then i dont see a lot of people paying that kind of dough for the chally. Especially w/ the disappointing reveal today i am sure the dealers are having a time keeping these over msrp chumps in line. Most will be renegotiating.
