I've been doing some reading/searching and I cant find any info, as of yet, about engine options in 09/10 model SRT. With the 5.7 getting a boost in power to 380hp/404tq what are they going to do with the 6.1 in the SRT. The current 6.1 is rated at 425hp/420tq. That's 45hp and 16tq difference with HUGE difference in price from the R/T to the SRT.

Will the 6.4 get to show it's face? or will they get more hp/tq out of the current 6.1? or will they tell you to "suck it up and deal with it."

My guess is that the 6.1 will stay at 425 hp for 2008, with a 500+ hp 6.4 or 6.5 in 2010. (I hope that I am wrong because I intend to buy a 2009 SRT).

You have to remember, however, that the additional cost of the SRT is not only due to the engine but the suspension, brakes, tires, trim, etc.

 

How much will the RT cost?

 

O, I agree about the more bang for your buck. The SRT seats are freaking sweet! Apples and oranges compared to the R/T seats. The seats alone make me want the SRT more!!

I plan on getting an 09 myself.

They know they will have to step up the performance quicker than originally planned, too many people pushing the green issue! I predict the 6.4 will be an option in 09.

 

I anticipate that the R/T model will cost around $31K as they seem as though they are planning on pricing it similar to the Charger. I would guess the 6.4L or 6.5L will be offered in 2010. The question is if it will completely replace the 6.1L completely because based off of what I read, the W5A580 transmission has a tq limit of 427 ft-lbs and would either need to be beefed up or replaced with something better (I hope this one happens).

 

I would guess that the price would be similar to that of a Charger R/T. If you don't go crazy with options, it should be around $32-33K.
