Here we go!
At noon, my Alma mater (Siena College) from Loudonville, NY (enrollment 2,900) will be taking on Villanova for a spot in the sweet 16 of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. No MAAC team has ever done it - or even really had a shot at doing so!
We destroyed Vanderbilt Friday, 83 - 62. Not bad for a MAAC school ranked 13th in the NCAA bracket, facing a 12th ranked upset winner in round 1 as well. What a boost for the program getting a spot in the sweet 16 would be! "Gonzaga East". LOL!
Who'da thunk it?
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks, Skippy. unfortunately, it didn't pan out as I'd hoped.
I'm eating humble pie now. Actually, it wasn't that big a fall......winner (Villanova) gets to face #1 Kansas in the next round.
It was a good season. We played well against Vandy, but the shooting wasn't there today - nor was "taking care of the ball" with some sloppy ball-handling (bad passes and turnovers). Sad part is if we shot just 40% from the field, it would have been a different story.
Oh well, woulda, shoulda, coulda doesn't count.
All but one player returning next year. Barring injuries, it should be an even better season.

Congrats to the Siena Saints, 2007-2008 MAAC Champions on a great season!
