Default Supercharged Challenger SRT

In the March 2009 issue of Hot Rod, a Vortech Supercharger Kit was bolted on a 2009 Challenger SRT. With a Diablo tune, the 6.1 put out 445 hp and 404 flb-ft on the dyno. This translates to 560 hp and 510 lb-ft at the crankshaft.

On a greasy track, with Nitto NT555 Drag Radials, the Challenger ran a 12.12 at 115 mph. If it hooked, it would have back-up Vortech's claim of 11.90s.

What do you pay for this speed? Uninstalled, the Vortech PN 4CL218-030L kit costs $6,339.95 (a few hundred more for the polished version). It comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.

For those who want to avoid the 10-hour installation time, the Speedfactory- the hot rod arm of Landmark Dodge in Morrow, GA, is selling Challengers with Stage 1 superchargers, JBA cat-exhaust, 1,000 hp rear half-shafts, coilovers, special badging, etc. for $65,000 shipped.

In this same issue, the Classic Design Concept's George Huismann's Group 2 Challenger competed in Hot Rod's open track smackdown. The winner was a 1968 Camaro with a 561 hp LS2 402 ci.

Default RE: Supercharged Challenger SRT

Someday I will have it installed instead of paying $65K. Part of the fun is in the installation.
