power brake install

i'm installing power brakes on my 70 challenger. i got the power brake assembly from summit and while it fit right in no
problem, the arm or shaft that goes through the firewall and connects to the brake pedal seems to be about an inch or so short. it doesn't want to let the brake pedal go all the way up and engage the stop light switch. also the brake and clutch pedal are on different planes or heights. there is no fluid in as of yet. has anyone encountered this problem? it is a four speed car that i repowered with a hemi. thanks in advance.

RE: power brake install

the depressing arm should be adustable..is yours not? typically, there is one part threaded over the other, and as you loosen or tighten it, it makes the arm longer or shorter.

RE: power brake install

thanks 1 bad. no there is no adjustment at all on this arm. i know what your saying though as the power brake unit that came with the front disc brake system i bought does have the adjustable arm. but does not fit with the 426. so i got the same bendex unit the cars came with. installed exactly like the service manual. i took the whole unit out to be sure there is no adjustment and it looks like it just needs an another arm about an inch longer. its a must have as it does not retract far enough to shut off the brake light switch.
