4-speed shifter boot problems
I have always had a problem with my 1970 Challenger with pistol grip 4-speed where the boot's neutral position (meaning it doesn't want to force the stick either forward or backward) is when it is in the R-1-3 positions. When I shift into 2nd or 4th, the boot applies pressure to the stick that tends to pull it out of gear when there is no thrust on the gears.
Anyone have an idea of what is wrong here? The boot ring is perfectly centered in the hole as is the shifter. It seems that the whole shifter should be roatated around it's top mounting bolt so that the stick points more toward the engine.
Thanks
