Ok, I know many people probably hate the fact that this car would be in the snow, or even that it's taboo, but let me tell you, there is no other car that I would rather have then this car. I spent 3 hrs getting home yesterday in the massive blizzard we had, white out conditions, and did not have issues at all. Not sure if the 20s helped it or not, which I didn't thnk there would be any way that they would, but if they did I definitely am glad that I had this configuration. If the 18s are even better, I congratulate the people that have them and drive in the snow if they have to.
Yesterday I went past a ditched focus, some other old car that the person wasn't in or even around, a bus and a taxi. A Firebird from Wyoming was all over the road, his back end kept getting loose, and a taxi driver thought that he had to nail the gas every time he started from a stop and I thought for sure I was going to get stuck behind him when he ditched his car. He didn't get stuck, surprisingly, but as I said above, a little further up the road there was another taxi that was ditched and someone was bailing them out. Love the non native taxi drivers, or any other native/non native that drive like idiots in this stuff. Take it easy, it's not worth it, accident or getting stuck.
Now people might complain about the weight of this car, but I can say, I'm glad I had it today and yesterday. With the Mustang it was a nightmare. Either the traction control would kick in so much that the car would pretty much die, or if I shut it off then I would be all over the place, with the rear end sliding, or just the tire spinning. Getting out of a parking spot was a joke, this was two years ago during out last major storm just before Christmas. Then getting stuck in a restaraunt parking spot, another embarassing moment.
This morning, I slid a couple times, no more then my wife in her Avenger or a Focus up the way, actually a lot less then the Focus since the person parked forward instead of backward, and had no trouble on the main roads, unless I did it on purpose. I have to say the ESP, while on, is very generous, maybe a little to generous, when it comes to sliding though.
So for those of us who can afford only one car, though I'm looking to sell this since I can't unfortunately, this is definitely the one sports car I am happy to have year around. I'm curious how the Camaro is going to handle. Though these aren't designed to be in the winter mainly, I am very pleased to have it.

I would avoid it being out in the snow not just because its hard as hell on the finish but the chances of someone else hitting you are even worse. Plus you can't exactly punch it on the snow and ice so where is the fun in that?

There you go.....Finally a reason why Chrysler made the Challenger weight so much...it was designed as a snowmobile! Thanks for clearing that up....
Glad to hear that the new Challenger handles the snow so well, not that I will ever drive my Challenger in the snow...(rare here in the Phoenix area..although not unheard of from time to time)
(My old Monte Carlo SS didn't like the snow at all...it was sad when a 1973 Vette blew by me one time on a snow covered road.....and the front end acted like a snow plow...but on the bright side...I kept the local tow company busy!!)

Where are you from Axel? The only place I heard that there was snow was in the Dakotas. How many miles have you racked up on your Challenger now? You aren,t gonna sell it now are you? I hope not.

mine is a daily driver come heck or highwater, been through 2 whiteouts and high winds, best freakin thing on the road, better in fact than my 4x4 FJ!!!! all because of the weight factor.

I've had no problems with mine in the snow either. I typiclally drive an old beater pick-up in the deep stuff but I've had my Challenger out in snow up to about 2-3 inches of the freshly falling snow this past Chicago winter. I thought it handled quiet well.

Right after I got my R/T we had a snow storm here in North Carolina 6". I did not want my new Challenger out in the snow, but I had to because of the way we parked the cars the night before. My son said I was crazy but we had a new plant to report to. It was our first day of in prossesing and its important to be there. The Challenger went like a champ. No problems what so ever. Cars all in the ditches and we never had a single scary moment. And it was a 53 mile trip one way. This car goes in the snow. Sooooeeeee little piggy.

Ridge, depending on what part of Colorado you were in, we got 10"-22" of snow. We're getting more now, after being 65 on Sunday, though it's not suppose to be much.
I only have about 1300 miles on it, and I don't want to sell it, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to live in these times. Medical bills from a surgery kind of left us with no choice. Insurance paid a lot less then what we thought it would.
So after being so safe coming home on Thu, which I said it took about 3 hrs and I only live about seven miles away, I decided to be stupid on Sat. Coming on an on ramp, there was a car ahead of me in one lane that was going slow so I decided to pick it up in the other. It looked wet on one side, but that was it, no big deal, or so I thought. I didn't have the ESP on and when I hit the gas I started to slide.
Well, I didn't think much going into this at first because one, it was only one side of the car that would hit this wet spot, one tire that is, that I learned later was not just wet, and two, the drive tire would be on the dry spot so no big deal. Yeah, well, forgot about the posi traction with this package. Almost paid for that one as my rear end got pretty loose and I almost lost the car. Thank the Lord that I gained control of it before hitting the wall. Talk about scary moment.
