Lets see some pictures if you have them. And let us know what your plans are and what you need. I own a 71 and am always looking on e-bay and other sites for parts. You and your father could not of picked a more unique car for you to drive to school. You will find the myth and legend of this car is one of speed and muscle. It does'nt matter what power plant you have, all they see is Challenger, And that means speed. Enjoy the car and let us know how we can help.

It's nice to see younger people having musclecars. I was 16 when I bought a 68 Charger rt in 1996. That car was a mess, the only that was strong in the car was the engine. I had to replace just about everything on that car, but it was well worth it. It's was definitly an eye turner

Give us a little more info on the challenger, and what kind of shape it's in? Has it been sitting in storage for a long time? From there we might be able to offer some more assistance.

For the basics off the top of my head just for driveability consider these items:
Replace all fluids in the car
Upgrade suspension like a complete bushing kit.
Replace all tires depending on how old they are.
Rebuild carb.

Depending when the last time it has been in driving condition.
Rebuild motor
Exhaust depending on condition
Might have to replace gas tank and sending unit
Possibly rear end

Hope this helps some and good luck. Keep us informed

Jeremy

It used to be a stock drag car. All thats left is the body, frame, axles, doors, hood, trunk, front end, and rear end. It has no dents, minor scratches, and some rust on the frame. The last time it was driven was in 1990. It was a trophey winner. Its been sitting outside since 1992. I'm going to my mom and dad's this weekend and will get some pictures of the car, the scratches, and the areas where parts are missing.

It looks like you're going to have your hands full on this one. All I can say at this point is SAVE SAVE SAVE, every birthday and Xmas ask for parts.

Get some pics of everything if you can like interior, engine bay, undercarriage, all panels.

I have to agree with you. When I was 16 I bought a 68 Charger RT. Everything needed to be replaced on it except the motor. Everyone thought it was a mistake to buy it, I would've done the same thing if I could do it over again. Except I had to sell it, when I got into an accident because some woman ran a stop sign. I was heart broken until and got the challenger, now it was just a great memory

If you want an auto go with the 727 trans.
