Default doing some research, need help

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good book to purchase about the history of challengers. pics, specs, etc. Im tryin to do some research on the older models because i will be purchasing one of the newer ones in 08. I plan on fixing it up a lil but i wanna make sure i do it RIGHT. i wanna keep true to the cars heritage. i love the flat black decals, stripes, inserts. ive been in the import scene for a while and have pretty much done all i can to my car right now (yea i know im gonna get ragged on for that). ive always been more of a domestic muscle car guy myself but imports were more affordable at the time. any info ya'll can provide will help out, thanx.

Don't know of any books that deal exclusively with the Challenger. Have you tried the allpar.com website? It provides alot of information on MOPAR models.

Try going to a MOPAR show and snagging some old shop manuals at the swap meet. I even buy old Chiltons or Motor manuals when I can find them. Look at book stores that sell old "vintage" books. You'd be surprised how many are out there. I think Peterson Publications has a book that deals with just the "E" bodies-Cuda and Challenger. I still have the shop manuals from my '73. (no I won't part with them)

While I can understand your reasons for doing the import thing, it's still good to see the younger gearheads going domestic.

That book claims to be a "restorer's guide," yet the Challenger on the cover has a PAINTED front bumper. I wonder how accurate the rest of the material is. However, the pic did make me wonder if it would be possible to have a chrome-like strip manufactured to surround the sides and top of the grille on the '08 model, like the one on the '70 in the picture. That's one bad thing about the new Challenger -- the lack of chrome accents to help break up the body color.
