Finally it's here. 2009 R/T Blue 6 spd
Well I finally picked it up yesterday. 2009 B5 Blue 6 Speed, Classic.I am just happy and worn out from waiting the last 7 months for this puppy. Beautiful color. Nice shift stick. Drive it about 50 miles the first day and the only complaint so far is a sore throat from that " New Car Smell ". Not enough leather on the interior. Too much man made plastics. Yucchhh. Hope that fades away soon. Anyway any suggestions for wax for the wheels, and what is the best out-door cover to get for this to protect in the bad weather ?

MoParJoe congrats on your new purchase. I have a 09 SRT8 which sits in our horse barn, it does not get out much in the 110 Phoenix weather and we asked a fellow drag racer and he recommended a company by the name of California Car Covers-went on their website and ordered a custom dust cover- it is absolutly perfect-fits like a glove.

New Car Cover just ordered
Just ordered from the dealer a Mopar cover specially made for the Challenger. $300 ugghh. They told me to use indoors but I will use outdoors as well. Will let you guys know how it is. could not find the California web site for the covers. Any ideas on a cold air intake for the beast ? Dealer was pushing theirs on me, but I have one on my 2006 R/T Daytona, but not totally happy with it and the fit.

I have/use one of the Mopar car covers on my Challenger everyday and find the fit and finish to be first rate. It doesn't appear to be suffering from the 110+ Phoenix heat, and stays put even in windy conditions.
I purchased two California Car Covers, one for my '67 Charger and another for my Daytona (not the top of the line but an indoor/outdoor style), they lasted around three years.....but, I never really took care of them, and failed to tie them down correctly in windy conditions, never let them air out when they get wet from the rain and snow (in Prescott, not Phoenix), so it was really because of me that they didn't last.
But to the credit of California Car Covers, they stood behind their product and replaced both of them as they had a five year unconditional warranty. I would buy from them in the future as I like the way they do business..............

I have one, too. Mine's an auto. Any idea what the FINAL production numbers are? I know in June (or so), there were 523 B5 Classics - 244 manual & 279 automatics. As I understand it, that wasn't the final tally at the end of the 2009 model production.

The June 2009 numbers indicate 759 B5 Blue Challengers: 236 SRTs and 523 R/T Classics. I guess that was only about half of what they wanted.
As far as covers go, I got a Covercraft cover (covercraft.com) made from Kimberly-Clark's NOAH material (yes, the paper towel people). The outer layer is UV & water resistant. The middle layer is micro-porous to allow moisture to evaporate. The inner layer is soft for paint protection. It's custom-fitted for the 08/09/10 Challenger & I found it online for about $220.00. It came with a "free" lock & cable kit which was pretty much useless, but I couldn't be happier with the cover.
I also bought a 10' x 20' ShelterLogic steel-framed canopy for about $250. Most of the frame is 2" tubular steel. The cover is UV resistant, has grommets to zip-tie it to the frame, and has flaps that hang over all the sides. It's the perfect size for the car. Barring any extreme weather, I should be good for at least a couple of years before I have to replace anything.
