Aw, let the V6 guys have some fun. Not everyone can be like Roswell and scorn the spoiler. The average observer probably couldn't tell the difference to begin with, except for the SRT stripes.

Yes, I am sure about the availability of the shaker on the 1970 4 bbl and multi carb equiped cars. The shaker was only standard on the 70 and 71 Hemi Cudas. They made a few cars with the T/A style hood when the supply of shakers was limited.

I never saw a shaker on a 1970 340 or 383- only a 440 6-Pack and 426.

I ordered a shaker on a 1971 'Cuda. It was a $95 option. I could not get one on a 1970.

The black fiberglass hoods were only available on the 1970.5 'Cuda AAR and Challenger T/A.

I think the Rallye edition is awesome. For us entry level people that just cannot afford a $30,000 plus car and just don't want the extra insurance of a Hemi V8. I have a SE and added the hood stripe, flat black spoiler and gas cap myself.
Just as long as there is no UP badging I think it is a great idea.

I also agree that alot of people just don't know what the different models of the Challenger are. Heck, alot of people don't even know this is a new model. Think of how many head turners you see and the expression of WOW!

Very true. I have actually seen a '70 Challenger R/T with a 383 that had no console and had the shifter on the column ... it came from the factory that way because the original owner ordered it. Car companies were a lot more willing in the old days to do whatever you wanted.

Default Shaker Hood

If anyone has seen a 1970 340, 440-4bl, or 383 'Cuda or Challenger with a shaker hood, it was added on by the owner after the car was built by the factory.

You could virtually order any parts from Plymouth and Dodge. I wanted the backlight louvers on my 1971 'Cuda but they came as a package with a black vinyl roof. I didn't want the vinyl roof, so I ordered the louvers through parts (for about $120) and installed them myself. They really looked great on a Rallye Red 'Cuda with black billboard stripes.

Actually, I had a 1970 RT/SE with a 383 that had no console and the shifter on the column. I converted it into a console shifter before I sold it as I didn't like the column shifter. And, in reality a 1970 Challenger with a column shifter was not that unusual as I remember seeing quite a few back in the day, including a very heavily optioned 1971 440-6 pak automatic Cuda that was orange with a black interior with orange inserts (I almost purchased this car)....why the owner wanted a column shifter...who knows...as it did look out of place. I also remember a couple of 1970 Hemi Challengers with the column shifter. All my Mopars have had consoles as I think they just look better with a console, but then that's just me...each to his (or her) own...
