Hello guys... I figured it was about time I broke my silence. My name is Steve and I have been lurking here for a couple of months now reading all your thoughts. I waiting for the day when the time was right for me to order my 2010 Challenger R/T, but considering what's happening these days with Chrysler I am not sure if that day will ever come.
I am a die hard Chevy guy, but I have always had a soft spot in my heart for classic MOPAR. When the Challenger came out I fell in love with it's classic lines and attitude. I decided that that was going to be the fist new car I ever bought. So when i got out of college and got my career I started saving for it. I have been saving for the past 6 months and have saved up about 13,000 to put down as a down payment. I am just waiting till I turn 25 in august to get my challenger. Insurance companies do not think a 24 year old guy with muscel car is a good insurance risks. Go figure.
But with what has been happeing in the past month it looks like the challenger may no longer be an option to me in august. So, I think I may be stuck with going with my second choice the Camaro. Don't get me wrong it is a sexy car with performance to make your head spin, but it just does not do it for me like the challener does.
To give you guys an idea of how much the challenger does it for me. Because my grandfather use to work for GM, I get employee pricing on any GM product I want. As you guys know that will save me thousands. I am willing to spend possibly 5 grand more to get a challenger R/T over a Comaro SS. And we all know that the SS will out perform the R/T hands down, so that is how much I love the challenger.
This is just a sad thing to realize I may no longer have the choice to buy the car of my dreams.

I hear ya brother,if I didn,t know any better,I would have thought that I have written your post.But I am almost twice your age and have already bought tons of muscle new and used,and still own alot of them still.The Challenger is the only one that makes me stand back and say WHOA!!!

I think there is still hope as along as Fiat buying Chrysler happens. The Challenger will survive the car cuts if the company survives.

Those of you that are holding off buying a Challenger and are going with the Camaro just because of what you feel is an uncertain future for Chrysler....news flash....GM also is not doing that great right now. But having said that, I feel both will be around for some time to come, so don't base your decision solely on "what looks like" the currect state of Chrysler. Buy what you want because if the government gets their way...it may well be the "last" muscle car you will ever be able to buy...so again, buy what you want......

That,s the best .02 I have read in a long time. I think the problem though isn,t just go buy what you want.I think the problem is coming down to not being able to get the Challenger you want,and having to get the Camaro cause they will possibly be alot more available.

Hey Mullit the Chevy board says that the Camaro is cheaper than the R/T. But I think the reality of the Stealerships is setting in. You have MSRP and then you have what you pay for. Looking around and being patient is what will get the MSRP. But its really hard sometimes and the wait can take months. I just wish they would sell them at the MSRP and they would do such a better volume. BUt greed sets in.
