I don't think the crome clad rims will be as big of a problem as some folks think. My wifes 2006 Jeep Commander came with chrome clad alum rims and that is driven all year round and even spent most nights parked outside in the winters here in Northern Illinois and they look great when cleaned up, without a whole lot of work either.

I have the luxury of another truck for winter but I've still driven the Challenger in some snow, just not the deep stuff where the front spoiler would act as a plow. The stock all seasons on the factory 20's did a decent job but if I needed to absolutely depend on this car for all driving, I'd get a scond set of rims and mount some Blizzak snow tires on them for winter use.

Instead of starting a new topic, I'll just continue this one.

Well, I have had this car for a week and someone already decided to put their door into mine. [:@] Let me tell you, had I saw the person, I would be in jail now. I'm going to go and get the paintless dent removal and hope for the best since they hit it right in that crease there. I have a feeling that I may be seeing them often, especially living in an apartment. Yes, I chose the car over the house. Ok, so I never could afford a house, but still. I should have one with a car like this I guess.

That brings me to something else. I'm assuming all the rich people on this board, don't need an alarm system and it seems Chrysler agrees. I went to a dealer and asked them for an after market from Mopar and they told me that they have nothing. That really sucks because that means that I have to get one outside of Mopar. I was shocked that this doesn't come with anything at all. Even my wife's Avenger has a basic alarm system if the trunk or doors are open. I think I saw an alarm offered if you buy a certain package with a billion other options, but that doesn't make sense why they wouldn't offer one through Mopar then.

Anyway, anyone have any suggestions as to a good alarm to get, other then Lojack, since Mopar doesn't offer one?

That's pretty much what someone else thought also. Haters and he puts it. Some people get upset that we own cars like this and don't care what they do to it, or do it on purpose. Me, I don't care what the car looks like, someone put money into it to get it, unless it was handed to them which that person still put money into it, it's not my property, I have no right to damage it. I don't get people and not caring. Let me smack their car around and see if they start caring or not.

Amen brother. I think I would be a nervous wreck if I could not park in my basement.

I have not had a door ding yet... but I feel your pain. I park like an idiot because folks won't treat my cars like I do. They don't see them as we do (car guys). But I have repect for all forms of property and treat them as they were my very own. I don't get it. It only makes sense to be careful around other peoples stuff. I dread the day when I see a door ding. I like to drive my car any chance I get... but the parking is nerve racking

What did you get I got an RT (SGII) and it has an alarm, I thought it was passive until at the dealership yesterday and the service mgr opened the door and it went off dumb ass couldn't figure out how to turn it off. One of the techs did.

I have been parking like A55hole for years now, at work I park right on the line did it for years with my truck and now with the challenger. there are about 5 of us who are offset from everyone else. Its when there is an idiot parking in our area and their car is between the lines that we start to worry. everywhere else I find the furthest spot from the door. I'll walk the extra mile to save her from the door dingers.

From building it on the website, the only place it shows the alarm system is under the electronics convenience group. I guess if you get the SG II, then it must come with that also. I don't have either of those so I guess that's why they figured they didn't need to put it on this car. I just don't understand why you can't seem to pick it up aftermarket.

Yep, tried the door thing, that's how we found my wife had one. Turned off the car, opened the door and closed it, locked it and then sat there for about a minute. Opened the door and nothing.

When it comes to work, I park in the garage where they have yellow lines next to some concrete pillars. I stay out of the way and give people next to me plenty of room. Never had an issue here. Now I'm trying to get the courage up to park outside since someone here owns a black Challenger. Would be kind of neat to see them side by side.

On another note, I'm kind of happy to only have a ding. My wife was heading out somwhere yesterday and saw a white Challenger on the back of a flat bed. Apparently he thought he had more horsepower then what he really did and got side swiped. Totaled the car.

I saw someone do this the other day, coming out of a Ford Quicklube, decided he didn't want to wait and flew across the other side of traffic. Looks like he broke the back end loose a little also, but that was almost the least of his worries. I thought for sure the idiot was going to get slammed. You would think you would be a little more careful with a car like this. Figured I would see this more out of the Mustang crowd not the Challenger crowd.
