I put the car up on jack stands, and ran it through the gears manually, seemed to be shifting fine. My linkeage is EXTREMELY loose though. I know there is a problem in there somewhere. I hate to do it, but may end up taking it down to Ramco and telling them to "fix it, please!!"
When the car is cold, it appears to shift fine, but once it warms up a little, that's when it has troubles shifting. I'm stumped at this point.

You should be able to pressure test the trans. Get it warmed up and test it. You can find the pressure chart here http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Tech...queflite727904

If you are not familiar with the 904 trans this is also a great reference

The high shift points and dropping out of gear sure sould like a low fluid issue.
I dont believe in a fix in a bottle, but I have great results with LubeGard products in older transmissions.

The kick down can be what is making the shift point higher, but with both problems.... It wont take the transmission out of gear.
I would be happy to walk you through a sure fire way to adjust the kick down, but I would not advise leaving it loose and shifting manual. At very least pull it half way back and wire it. Drop me an email or PM and I will give you my desk line if you need advice on the adjustment.

The kickdown on the trans is right above the shifting mechenism. So if you have a bind it might be pushing the lever into nuetral. I'd jack it up and put it in drive (without the engine runnig) and then floor the throttle and see if it is binding at the trans. Other than that it sounds like a low fluid problem. Let us know how it goes.

Good Call Lear!

I have seen guys hook up the kick down to the bottom side of the lever and knock it into neutral because the excess wear on the linkage bushings. It's has been so long I forgot about that one...
