I agree. There is nothing preventing dodge from putting a manual transmission into the charger if they REALLY wanted to do so. Ive seen a street driven VW bug with a 454 chevy and 4-speed...anything can be made to fit anything, but you have to consider the cost of the changes needed compared to the demand for the application. will enough people buy a 300, magnum, or charger to justify stocking the extra parts/modifying the vehicles to accept the extra parts? I would guess not. its shocking how few people can drive a stick.

Valid point, would there be enough demand to offset it, of course if you had it a la cart limited run, allow a threshold to be met before you did it, say 100 orders at a clip and the plop out 100 of these, until they can't receive 100 orders in a given time, then they finish the rest and discontinue offering them.

Then the collectors would have even more rare and valuable Mopars....not that I'd buy for that reason...but tooling up certainly has to be warranted by guaranteed sales...

It will be interesting to see what they learn from the Challenger. Percentage of manual vs. Autos sold, any mechanical issues, either trans or the the IBS, etc.

My opinion, I think the short run of "special" 500's or an R/TSE again, would quite cool. To me, it could be the 5.7 Hemi as well. If they see how much folks are customizing the Challenger (which they will) they might need something to "spice up" the Charger just before its re-design...who knows.

Several folks on this thread have said that they would have bought one, me too.

I put the Charger in the class with Maxima and the 4 door beamers. Both offer sticks and I can't really see the demand for that... but there are some folks who want it and the Co. gives them that chance. So I believe if the expense is not too much they try to cater to those few individuals. I believe the Charger to be a sport sedan and thus worthy of a manual transmission. I think with the LY platform that will be achievable.

[sm=feedback.gif] I don't know about 6 speed versus automatic in the Charger but I DID NOT BUY one because it had 4 doors. Now I finally managed to order a 2009 Challenger R/T and the day I ordered it my salesman showed me a picture with a intercompany bullitin. He showed this to me because he knew I wanted to buy a Charger but changed my mind when it came out as 4 door plus just as I was going to order one anyway, Motor Trend mag announced the 2008 SRT8 Challenger.

Now to the pic and bullitin which was a picture( drawing) of a 2010 Dodge Charger 2 door Hardtop, very modern looking , different than anything in recent years and comming with 3 different Hemi's, a V/6 and in Automatic or 6 Speed standard.

This Bullitin was of a concept type news but along the same lines as the Challenger was started. My salesman is a real car buff and he feels sure they will make it , lets see if he's right. For those interested I'll post again if I hear more. Good luck to all those getting a Challenger and GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS WHO ARE FIGHTING TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM OVER THE WORLD !!!!
