Default 6spd/Auto Rumor?

Has anyone else heard that the 6.1 version is going to have a 6spd/auto set up like the BMW SMG?

Just something I heard, but not 100% verified.

I saw that in one of the magazines at one point. I doubt it due to the fact that they don't have a real 6 speed auto that can handle that level of torque, nor one that is designed for rear wheel drive applications. The 62TE is only FWD applications. I doubt they would put the upcoming 68RE (no matter how bad I wish they would). They will most likely use the MB sourced W5A580. If they choose the W5A580 over the 545RFE in the cars, then they will surely not use a Chrysler Group designed transmission on a MB designed (Chrysler Group modified) platform. I think what they meant was a six speed manual.

i have also heard rumors of an auto with the 6.1L, but not a six speed...

when i worked for Dodge, there was information about how all models were supposed to get 5 speed autos and 6 speed manuals within the next few years...

It only makes sense it would be this way. They will just carry the SRT-8 powertrain over and make a 6-speed manual an option. The 5WA580 will most likely stay with this engine. It makes the most sense.

All versions of the Charger (minus the rental fleet models which we can't buy thank goodness which have the 2.7L 42RLE 4-speed auto) have the W5A580 5-speed automatic with autostick. Unfortuneatly, there aren't any manual models. The autostick is the closest your going to get to a manual in the LX cars. The Charger R/T and SRT-8 both have the W5A580 autostick as their only option.

That is unbelievable. Dodge is hurting itself by not selling manuals tranny's in its most powerful cars, except the Viper. How sure can we be that the LY platform will have a 5 speed included? Don't Rams have a 5 speed for there 5.7 hemi applications?

Why make the concept a manual if your not planning to make production include a manual option?
