RE: Best deal-who cares?-drive 'em!
At 17 years of age my first Challenger wasn't the best-'73 340 auto, but I could take about any street driven big block out there because of my familiarity with the car after a few years. So many people make the mistake of thinking that cubic inches equals unbeatable performance, but I made believers out of a few big block muscle car owners with that little 340. Some even became converts. Like I said I will own the car till I no longer drive so appreciation is not a factor as it will not be a low mileage vehicle. I owned my '73 for 17 years and beat the crap out of it until body cancer and growing kids made me have to part with it. There just wasn't the money to fix it and I couldn't stand to see it sit and rot any longer. The day I sold it I took it out with 117,000 miles on it and as a final goodbye drove her to 120 mph. Pretty sappy huh? She was my first love though and I have countless memories of that car and good times driving her. I don't think 6.1 or 5.7 will make that much of a difference to me as I'm an old man now and I just don't drive that fast anymore. You guys do what you think is right for you and you'll build some of the memories I keep.....I'll bet that Scott county sheriff is still pissed that he couldn't catch that old DODGE.

I currently own and LOVE a 2006 Charger RT. It has cold air intake and modified exhaust. It really gets up and goes when you put your foot in it. Last year I had the pleasure of driving a friends 300 with the 6.1L engine in it. It was the first week he owned it, no mods at all and was not broken in yet. WOW! was all I could say.
For those of you who have not driven both vehicles, please dont fool yourself that the RT is that close to the SRT. The power, feel, sound, everything is soooo mmuuuuccchhh better.
I do agree with all of the arguements for the RT and even the SE. I am not trying to impose my wishes on anyone. In reading this post, I am going to look into the extended warranty. Joani reminded me that this decision can be made anytime prior to the 3 year 36000 mile mark.
Lets all stay with this forum after we receive our dream cars. Maybe even get together local owners once in a while.
Good luck to all,
Dave

Dave you've become quite a diplomat. Well put.
Your driving experience makes me wish I had the $ for the SRT.
