the local dealers say they can get the wheel but I have to buy the tire myself. Does anyone know the numbers for the compact spare? Like specificly what it is I need to look for?

Before you do that, you might want to see if your dealer will pull a spare tire-and-wheel assembly out of a Charger for you.

When I got my compact spare, the dealer had such a hard time getting the tire that he ended up taking a spare tire-and-wheel assembly out of a Charger and putting it in my Challenger. Apparently, Chrysler designed the wheel long before they bothered ordering tires for it, so the tires are in very limited supply. (I'm guessing that while the outer diameter of the spare tires are the same, there must be some difference between the Challenger spare's wheel and that for the Charger.)

Or maybe you could go on eBay and see if you can get a Charger's tire-and-wheel assembly there. Several people on this board have done that.

The 18" spare that was used with the Charger will fit all LX vehicles, except the SRT8's. The front brembo's wont allow it.
To save the 400+ most will charge to fix this... Just buy the 18" spare from ebay, a junk yard or anywhere, and use a 1.25" stand off adapter.
I would never run stand off's at speed, but I would not run the spare over 60-65 mph anyway.

SRT8 owners....when running a spare that is not the exact diameter of your other tires, you must disable esp to avoid damage.

ok, I have no idea what a 1.25 stand off adapter is but if I can use the charger spare that would be good I guess. If anyone could explain the adapter part I would be most grateful. I am the opposite of mechanically inclined.

I don't know where I read it at, some conversation with the SRT boys on a forum or something like that, but the Caliber spare can supposedly fit on the SRT 8. Here's the catch, not to mention pain in the but. Since the tire size is different in front and back, you would actually have to switch one of the tires from the back to the front, I think that was the way that was said, and put the spare on the tire you just switched out. Well, no problem as long as you have a full sized jack and an impact wrench to get this done in no time. I'm sure we all have those in the trunk.

in the back of my RT right now is a gray plastic/foam thing with the air pump thing in it, do I remove that to put the spare tire in? It sure doesnt look like it would fit otherwise. I also hope under there would be something to hook the tire to so it wont move around on me when I brake or speed up fast, which I tend to do a lot.

I pulled out the gray thing and there is indeed a notch of some kind under there which I assume is for some sort of retainer so I guess the lesson there is pull some stuff apart before you ask dumb questions

Sometimes it's just quicker to ask the question then going and tearing something apart though so I say no harm done.
