Hey J Rod, don't leave yet. Wait, I'll give you 4,700 pennies for your last year's model

Hahha, foolish - get off this forum and find one where people think you know what you are talking about.

If the car is not a collectible car then why are so many COLLECTORS buying them? The Limited Edition 2008 will be a collectors car and have a MUCH greater value then the 2009 or any other normal production run of the new Dodge Challenger.

See you at Barrett Jackson in 2025-2030 when I'm being handed that big check and we can discuss it further.
Well, many "collectors" also bought the first year Mazda Miata and Corvette ZR1 and even the PT Cruiser, convinced that they'd be "instant collectibles" too (and some even paid WELL over sticker, just like alot of saps did with the 08 Challenger). 6400 cars aren't exactly "limited edition", and while they might be worth a tad more than an equivalent non-numbered 09, the 08s are gonna depreciate just like any other car. Hate to break that fact to you, but it's true.

Buy a car to ENJOY it, not as an "instant investment" deal.

I agree you do not need a little plastic dollar stoor dash to give your car collectible status. The 09s will have half the # of 08s produced without a little plaque saying so and still will probably be worth more. But in the real world your car right now is worth 35-37k. It depreciated the minute you drove it off the lot.

Here in South Florida I know for a fact all the cars.com prices are real ... most dealers want over 50k for the 08 and are going to do the same with 09. I looked on a forum where one guy said "Over half there are listed at MSRP on cars.com and I typed in my zip called some "MSRP Offers" And all dealers want 15k TO THIS DAY (9/3/08) for the 2008 model. There is one 09 SE in west palm beach and they want 30ish for it. I called 5 dealers today and the price has not changed and for everyone who thinks dealers will let 09 SRT's go for MSRP are very wrong because the SE's aren't even going for sticker in South Florida. I know very few dealers will sell the chally at MSRP , and most are still asking over MSRP for the 08. And the auto 08 is the same as 09 so this guy isn't asking an insane price ....

I've to this day seen one challenger on the road besides mine and that was 2months ago?

Does everyone really think this month that an SRT8 will go for MSRP? (if it wasn't "pre-ordered" like every single 2008 )

Well if you go to autotrader you may find many dealers who have the SRT8 '08 listed for MSRP. A dealer in VA has thirteen listed. Now it is possible that when you show up they will try to gouge you but they are listed on Autotrader for MSRP.

Yo Yankee....

Just wanted to chime in and let everyone know I was a "sap". Did I pay over msrp... you bet I did.
I didnt buy it for collecting. I bought it because life it too short to WANT what you can have.

I am sure many younger, or more patient people may feel different. I respect that.

Hey, if you're happy with it Andre, good for you - that's all that really matters, wouldn't you agree?

And the Corvette ZR1 I was referring to earlier was the 1990 model, not the upcoming 2009 model (I can only imagine the markups that beast is gonna fetch - yikes), and not to be confused with the current Z06.

Just playin' Bro

Its in the garage, and if I had known I could get an 08 off the lot, I would be at least one trip to Costa Rica richer. No going back, so I'm enjoying it for every dime spent! I was going to make this one a race only car until I drove it. Now I will have to chop up a SE :-)
