To tell you guys the truth... I'm leaning towards the R/T. I love the SRT-8, but I'm a modifier and there will be lots of trick stuff for the 5.7. Not saying there won't be for the 6.1, just stands to reason that there are more 5.7s and if I'm a tuner, I'd go with the odds. And I have $10,000 dollars more to spend on it. You get so many goodies with the SRT-8 and I know me. I'd more than likely stop with an intake and exhaust. With the R/T I'd put headers on it and a super charger as soon as the warranty runs out. I'm on the fence and its different each day. But I'm going to take the plunge soon and when I do it will be with alot of thought I think they are both great packages and you have to make that choice that works for you. As far as SE, again great looks with better gas mileage for those who like to cruise and be seen Can't go wrong when you choose a Challenger.

yea rudy, the article never said the rt was a better car, just better bang for the buck.

rt bone stock runs 13.5 , if you compare performance alone 13.5 is great for the amount you save. Now if we go into other things then of course srt8 is even better.

and rudy your comparison is bad, that is like saying the challenger rt and srt8 are great buys but the viper is still the better car.
Kevin a Viper and a Challenger are two totally different cars.

An S550 and a Maybach are pretty much identical looking.... same class ... one has a strong V12 , over the S550's v8 and the S65's V12.

You can compare a Maybach and S65 , you can't compare a Challenger and Viper. The Viper is just like a lotus - street legal race car.

And all the magazines i've looked up don't say 13.5 more along the lines of 14.1 14.0 13.9 - You can look at any YouTube review you want !!! I'm not arguing but people posting there suposed "track times" on a forum doesn't woo me away from reputable magainze times.

The R/T is a better bang for the buck , but .... that's about it.

Hey if I had the $ I'd spring for an SRT in a heartbeat. Fact is, the SRT is out of range for alot of us, unless they come WAY down in price (don't see that happening anytime soon).

Unlike some, I don't have anyone to buy my car for me - I actually have to work for a living and buy my own stuff, plus I don't live and die by 1/4 mile times, so the R/T will do just fine when it's time.

I'm not goinna take that as an insult ...

I never said anything negative about the R/T it's the same car as mine just a smaller engine I was just talking on the forum about a subject that came up ... and was answering to Kevin.

Bought it myself or had someone else buy it I don't care it's in my parking spot and that's all that counts.

Lear , your warranty never runs out lol.

rudy I agree with you totally

If I had money to mod the srt8 I would go srt8....becuase the 6.1 is a great block to have. But for me money is a bit tight and I plan to stroke the 5.7 to 426 later on anyway so might as well get the 5.7 since you can stroke the 6.1 or 5.7 to 426 so that is the better option for me I think. But if I wanted top of the line straight from the dealer there is no denying the srt8.

And Ill come to rudy's defense and say he was replying to my comment. It doesnt matter whether your dad or you bought the car it depends on what you want and what you can afford. what makes YOU happy. look at rosswell he has an SE and he loves it like if it was a srt8 as he should.

And I really don't think people should catch hard feelings ....

There are millions of people loosing everything they have everyday ...
People can't get financing on ANY CARS.
People can't afford gas (at least couldn't).

So bottom line , you could be in a lot worse shape then owning a 5.7L V8 Dodge Challenger ... or a 3.5L V6 Challenger ... LIFE COULD BE A LOT WORSE we should all be greatful , and if we wanna argue specs. and stuff I don't see anything wrong with that. If you own a 08-09 Challenger regardless of trim , you have nothing to take offense about.
