RE: R/T Fans Rejoice!
OY! Remember the HEMI 2.2 or was that 2.2 HEMI?
ORIGINAL: Yankee
So tell us: just what IS a "true" Hemi? 2 4-barrel carbs? An extremely finicky temperment? Something that doesn't stay in proper tune for more than a month without constant care and maintenance? Something that gets 8 MPG (on a good day)? Something that would nearly be impossible to use as a daily driver? Something that constantly leaks oil?
It's easy to get caught up in the original 426 Hemi legend (and the other smaller ones, the 331, 392, etc)... but truth be told, there's no way any one of those Hemis would hold a candle to the 6.1 as far as driveability, gas mileage, overall liveability factor... and outright power.
So for those that dog the new Hemis for not being "real" Hemis, all I have to say to that is... THANK GOD!

That was the 2.6 liter "hemi" (made by Mitsubishi) that came out in the cardboard K cars in the early 80s. Made a whopping 95 or so horsepower (woo-hoo) if memory serves correctly. [:'(]
