said the new challenger is 100% SRT-8 with the 6.1 HEMI n all, but....

it gunna be stripped down a bit

its coming with the 18" R/T wheels instead of the SRT rims, standard brakes (not sure which) instead of the big brembo brake kit
unfortunately the tour got cut short because someone got caught snapping a picture
I'm not buying it. SRT= Brembo and 20" wheels...

My source, a regional finance manager, who recently saw the monster in Vegas at a Dealer forum said it has 20" wheels. He also confirmed the pricing date as mid-December, all SRT's sporting a 6.1 engine. He did not go into detail on the color and said he was not aware of a manual transmission on the '08.

I received a tip from source that wishes to remain secret. Here is what that source said:
ORIGINAL: Undisclosed
1. 6.1L/Autostick - 5K units/2008 Models

2. 6.5L/6-speed Manual - 10K units/2009 Models but out from July-December 2008. This is a new family of engines named after a bird (Eagle) but that is the internal name they use. Unknown if it will be have either MDS or direct injection or neither. Might have a VVT system.

These high performance models will be fully loaded with the likes of Sunroof/Keyless entry/Bluetooth/Navigation with DVD/Audio with a 20G HD, and fully functional Butterfly Valve Scoops feeding the intake and not just cooling the engine.

3. 6 Cylinder/Quantities unknown for 2009.

4. LX platform in 2008/2009/2010 models but 2011 Models will be LY platform but out in 2010 (this one completely confuses me)

5. No convertibles are planned at all because of the low volume.

6. Maybe sold overseas as a left hand driver car.
I know this is extremely vague, but at this point this is all the info and discription I have available. My question is what kind of engine the Eagle would be 4 valve or an updated Hemi.

Vague with some inaccuracies, try this (bookmark post and check back whenever official info becomes available):

'09 SRT8 models will be introduced with the 6.1L engine. No such engine as a "6.5". NEXT SRT8 engine will be the 6.4L. None of the 2009 model SRT engines will have MDS.

Five different rear axle ratios will be used on the Challenger, with the lowest gears going on the SRT8 6-speed followed by slightly higher gears on the R/T 6-speed. R/T and SRT will have anti-spin rear diff's.

'09 Challengers will offer the 6-speed TREMEC MT in both the R/T and SRT models. 5-speed W5A580 automatics will also be available in both vehicles.

'09 R/T and SRT models will feature an all-new "Keyless Go" ignition system. This means push-button start and also proximity entry wherein the key fob does not have to be pressed to unlock the doors.

R/T models will have heavy-duty brakes, SRT8 models will have Brembo's. Both get rear spoilers. R/T gets all-new 5.7 VCT Hemi.

'09 base models will offer only the 3.5L HO V6 engine, mated with the 4-speed 42RLE transmission.

The '08-'09 Challenger general features and options are almost identical to that of the 2008 Charger SXT, R/T and SRT's (i.e. MyGIG, Boston audio, sat radio, remote start, heated seats, HID's, lighted map pockets and cupholders, UConnect, side air bags, tilt/tele steering wheel, etc.). No Challenger will have a spare tire.

The new family of engines "named after a bird" are the Phoenix engines. The first of these new engines, V6 versions, will start to debut in Chrysler models in the 2010 model year. V8 variants will follow after that. The V6 models will be 3.0L, 3.3L, 3.6L, and 4.0L. Most will feature VVT and MDS, a couple will be DI (Direct Injection). A 3.6L Phoenix hybrid-electric variant is scheduled for the minivans as well as some other vehicles.

Who is your source? If its Allpar, remember that they are not always accurate.

It's funny to watch you guys snipe at Allpar. The raw info on Allpar's boards is way more accurate than anything I've seen here, with one exception: ResumeSpeed's stuff. If he says it, take it to the bank.

I say take it all with a grain of salt, then if you read it from Dodge... still wait until you see it. Because we live in a world that changes very quickly. Believe 1/2 of what you see and some of none of what you hear. Man... that sounds like a hit song But I trust Dodge will make us proud
