What is 55 HP Worth?
I was curious of what the 55 hp difference between the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemis would be in the 1/4 mile using an on-line calculator.
After putting in the following numbers, this is what I got:
Input
5.7 R/T= 370 hp; 4,221 lbs (includes 180 lb. driver)
6.1 SRT= 425 hp; 4,350 lbs. (includes 180 lb. driver)
Results
5.7 R/T= 13.82 mph
6.1L SRT= 13.33 mph
I think that these estimates are darn close. The 55 extra hp of the SRT will result in a 1/2 sec. difference in elapsed time- still a decisive victory in the 1/4 mile. If you want to play around with the numbers yourselves, here is the web site:

if you want ur own unique car for a bargain, go with the RT. I was just on another forum and a new owner of an auto rt is getting consistent 5.3 times in his 0-60 and the car isnt even broken in, so basically it has gt numbers stock.

RE: What is 55 HP Worth?
I have now driven my R/T automatic for a few days and about 150 miles.
The car is so smooth - that the speed is deceiving. This car really scoots when you get on it. But, the low gearing really is a penalty. I'll bet if the rear end were above 3.50 this car would be seriously fast. Too bad that the lazy 3.08 gearing is slowing the car.

The R/T is definitely the car to get if you want to add a lot of performance components. The SRT comes with most component upgrades and stands as the "gold" standard. If the RT crowd exceeds the preformance of the SRT8 I will be the first to cheer. Although I will be sitting in my car racing, not upgrading. Go for it R/T folks!!
